The Role


The Role


Based in Doha, Qatar, Sidra Medical and Research Center will be the Middle East's first academic medical center designed to the best international standards. Scheduled to open in early 2013, Sidra will provide world class, patient-focused, clinical services for women and children, medical education, and biomedical research in an ultra-modern, all-digital facility.The Manager, NICU administers and coordinates planning activities of the Level I, II and III NICU and is responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures in this area. The Manager,  NICU  is responsible for the direction and evaluation of patient care delivery and maintains the project and operational planning aspects of NICU in collaboration with other service areas and ensures that recruiting, commissioning, onboarding, orientation and service activation responsibilities are carried out in accordance with project plans and timelines and which may extend into hospital operations.

* The NICU Manager participates as required in recruitment, interviewing and selection of project staff for the Levels I, II and III NICU.* Provides leadership and direction in accordance with project goals and objectives.* Plans safe and effective staffing patterns for the NICU. * Collaborates with ancillary support services to plan a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors. * In collaboration with the Finance workstream, plans and  justifies a fiscal plan (budget) for the NICU. * Provides input and standards in formulating patient care policy and procedures for the project and the organization. * Works with physician advisors to coordinate medical and nursing management of patient care. * Participates in quality assessment and performance improvement planning, including utilization of key performance indicators (KPI's). * Evaluates key requirements for clinical information systems to assure standardized IT processes. * Maintains clinical skills in area of specialization. * Collaborates with clinical educators in planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and staff education requirements. * Assumes responsibility for own personal continuing education and developmental needs. * Attends workshops and conventions to enrich personal knowledge, growth and skill in planning clinical care for patients. * Supports and/or participates in research planning. * Fosters good public relations for the project. * Participates in Sidra commissioning activities as required including commissioning, recruiting, on-boarding and service activation. * In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within Sidra during this start-up phase, this position may perform other dutries as assigned. As the project moves towards opening, the duties of the position will be revised. The post holder will be kept appraised regarding development of the operational role and will be consulted as necessary regarding the job transition. The current post holder may transition into the new role following an appropriate selection processESSENTIAL* Masters in Nursing and 3 years NICU Level III management experience, OR* Bachelors degree in nursing and 5 years NICU Level III management experience. * Experience in the planning and implementation of high risk neonatal transport.* RN Licensure.* Current BLS, NRP Certification. * Proficiency with Windows and Microsoft Office, and Excel. * Ability to use search engines and data bases for internet research.* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.* Strong group presentation skills. * Fluency in written and spoken English.DESIRABLE* Familiarity with JCAHO, JCI and other accreditation organizations.* Demonstrated analytical and research skills
