The RoleThe RoleBased in Doha, Qatar, Sidra Medical and Research Center will be the Middle East's first academic medical center designed to the best international standards. Scheduled to open in early 2013, Sidra will provide world class, patient-focused, clinical services for women and children, medical education, and biomedical research in an ultra-modern, all-digital facility.The  Manager, Respiratory Services, coordinates planning activities of Respiratory Services and is responsible for the recommendation, development and implementation of policies and procedures in these areas and for keeping the Senior Planning Consultant Perioperative Services informed of both progress and potential problems. The Manager Respiratory Services is also responsible for the planning of patient care activities, unit operations and staff competency. The Manager, Respiratory Services will demonstrate professional planning leadership in the evaluation and planning of respiratory care service delivery and ensures that recruiting, commissioning, on-boarding, orientation and service activation responsibilities are carried out in accordance with project plans and timelines and which may extend into hospital operations |
RequirementsRequirements*Participates as required in the recruitment, interviewing and selection of Respiratory Services project staff. *Provides planning leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental goals and objectives. *Responsible for completion of regular performance evaluations for project team members. *Conducts evaluations for new staff prior to completion of probationary period. *Plans for safe staffing patterns, while meeting the patient's need for continuity of care and level of care. *Collaborates with ancillary services in adherence to international standards to ensure a safe, clean and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors. *Plans for processes to monitor patient revenues, expenses and operating expenses (salaries and capital expense items) and provides appropriate reports. *Evaluates processes for monitoring the utilization of respiratory equipment and supplies. *Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness, cost, and impact on practice in planning Respiratory Care Services. *Provides input and implements evidence-based standards in formulating unit patient care policy and procedures for Respiratory Services. *Establishes and maintains working relationships and solicits input from physicians and other healthcare personnel to ensure optimal patient care. *Participates in quality improvement planning, including utilization of key performance indicators (KPI's). *Evaluates Respiratory Care processes and Clinical Information systems to ensure standardized assessment, diagnosis, outcomes, planning, implementation, and valuation. *Maintains Respiratory clinical skills. *Collaborates with clinical educators in planning, implementation and evaluation of staff and patient education. *Integrates research findings into practice planning and, where appropriate, participates in the generation of new knowledge. *Fosters good public relations for the project. *Participates in Sidra commissioning activities as required. *Integrates ethical considerations and processes in all areas of planning,In view of the developing and changing needs and opportunities within Sidra during this start-up phase, this position may perform other duties as assigned. As the project moves towards opening, the duties of the position will be revised. The post holder will be kept appraised regarding development of the operational role and will be consulted as necessary regarding the job transition. The current post holder may transition into the new role following an appropriate selection process. ESSENTIAL * Masters in Healthcare related field and 3 years of Respiratory Services Management experience, OR * Bachelors Degree in related field and 5 years relevant Cardiopulmonary Management experience. * Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). * Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist (RPFT. * Evidence of Managing a multidisciplinary team. * Experience in organizing data and generating thorough, accurate , timely reports. * Experience with Clinical Information Systems either as an end user, super user or build contributor. * Licensed and or Certified in Country of Origin. * Current Certification as a NRP, PALS, ACLS provider. * Proficiency with Windows,Microsoft Office, and Excel. * Ability to use search engines and data bases for internet research. * Strong analytical and research skills. * Strong group presentation skills. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. DESIRABLE Familiarity with TJC, JCI and other accreditation organizations. |
