The Role


GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Departmental Management – human and capital resource management and development. Planning and implementing marketing activities in order to meet, maintain and develop company targets for customer retention, growth and improved company profitability in accordance with an agreed business plan. To play a pivot role in building and developing a winning organization and integrated strategic marketing and sales plans in line with the company vision statement - “One Company One Vision”.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Formulation of the Marketing Annual Operating Plan and other business plans/reviews.
• Brand/Product Positioning development and custodianship of the Desert Group brands at a strategic and tactical level
• Building of current brand/product portfolios and acquiring new brands/products
• Planning, Management and Control of the Operating Marketing budgets, as well as G&A and CAPEX budgets available to the Marketing department
• Identification of key marketing needs – new products and revitalization of current product portfolio as well as implementation of strategies to fulfil market needs and drive growth.
• Plan and implement customer retention programs
• Identify/Implement opportunities to improve profitability (Product Development/Product pricing/Exports).
• Formulation of policy and processes for marketing functions
• Continue enhancing internal and external control systems to facilitate business objectives
• Evaluation, reporting and recommending on market audits, market share analysis, sales analysis, and competitive media spends and brand performance indexes.
• Developing Key Performance Measures
• Plan and manage internal communications and awareness of corporate direction, mission, aims and activities as well as overseeing the company website
• Attend product launches, conference and exhibitions
• Human resource development in terms of recruitment, training, formal development programs, target setting as well as appraising the individuals and providing growth guidelines and incentives.
• Planning and implementing trade marketing, trade communication, channel marketing and key customer development sales and marketing initiatives.
• Management of appointed advertising, PR and promotion agencies. Reviewing of all work against the brief and strategic brand platforms.
• Liaison and relationship building with both government and key clients.

AUTHORITY

The Marketing Manager has full authority delegated by the Group CEO to carry out all responsibilities assigned.

Reports to Group Chief Executive Officer

REQUIREMENTS / SKILLS

1. Degree/Professional tertiary education in Marketing or related field.

2. A strategic thinker, well organised and analytical. A forward planner

3. A team worker with excellent empathic communication and presentation skills.

4. Self driven result oriented, committed, enthusiastic and works well under pressure.

5. Ability to provide impact and influence as to marketing and sales priorities within the operational divisions of Desert Group

6. Ability to write concise competent and accurate reports, letters and proposals.

7. A minimum of 8 years experience in Marketing

8. Matured, credible, reliable, tolerant, determined, well presented

9. Appreciates need for consistency within company’s branding and marketing mix especially PR and the internet.

10. Computer driving license.

11. Able to understand profit and loss, basic business finance etc, e.g. – gross margin percentage & calculations, depreciation, capital and revenue expenditure, cash flows, overheads etc.
