Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Ensuring engineering work undertaken is accordance with Departmental Work Instructions, Procedures and Standards.
- Prepare MTO and material specification for tendering purpose for new projects .
- Liaise with Class & Owners with regard to material selection/ replacement.
- Preparing technical specifications for shipbuilding material, technical review of quotations, liaison with chosen vendor.
- Check, approve or suggest alternate solution for material to be procured considering the project requirements
- Identify the most economical and technically acceptable materials for the project
- Follow up with trades and carry out inspection during vessel construction and outfitting.
- Ensure that the Safety, Quality & Environment requirements of the yard are strictly followed.
- Perform other job related duties as assigned by the section head.

Requirements

- Degree in Naval Architecture / Mechanical Engineering / Structural Engineering / Metallurgy
- 5 years experience of New Building / Conversions, dealing with material selection.
- Familiar with various material codes, class rules/regulations and NORSOK standards related to materials
- Experience in use of AUTOCAD.
