About the Business Description and Desired Qualifications Project / business overview A leading consultancy in transport, development and natural resources, Halcrow is part of CH2M HILL COMPANY who employs around 30,000 people. The Urban Water Practice in our Natural Resources Practice Area houses experts on most aspects of water supply and treatment, sewerage networks, wastewater treatment and solid waste management. Our work includes master planning, feasibility studies, design, project management, contract preparation and construction supervision. A key project in the Urban Water portfolio is the Lusail Development in Qatar - a 35 km of undeveloped waterfront overlooking the crystal clear Gulf being transformed into a progressive, world-class city where 200,000 people will live and work. Halcrow currently has a number of vacancies for this project, please read further for greater detail on the specifics requirements of this role. Key role objective The principal function of this position is to be responsible for all materials used in the construction work site. Key areas of responsibility The priorities of this role include: Daily and weekly checking of all material used on site for compliance, availability and quality. Supervision of the contractor's testing work. Arrange and monitor NDT, DT and testing for materials associated with concrete, soil, asphalt works etc. To ensure all lab equipments are certified and calibrated. Request 3rd party assessment when required. Review and approve concrete trail mix design and asphalt mix design. Review and approve Material submittal, also maintain the material sample library. Review the Material test results and reports submitted by contractor. Deal with any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the SRE and the RE. Ensure that HS&E are in compliance with the Contract agreement i.e. Ministry of Environment and HSE plan towards the site personnel as well as to the public. Ensure that the quality of the work is delivered according to the Halcrow's Safety Management Plan / Quality Plan, PMS and to the satisfaction of the Client |
RequirementsRequirementsBasic Qualifications Key requirements: The ideal candidate should possess and be able to demonstrate the following skills and knowledge. These points should align with the key areas of responsibility: Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of internal staff (SRE and RE - Civil) and Contractor and Client representatives. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Self starter and team player. Proficiency in computer skills Knowledge of materials international standards and related practices. Minimum qualifications A Bachelor Degree in Construction or related field (or equivalent experience). However, depending on experience level, degree requirement may be waived. Demonstrable years of related work experience in the field of Materials.
