Materials Inspector

Job description / Role

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Works as directed by the Project Manager, Construction Manager, Project Engineer, or Quality Control Manager. Provides quality control inspection activities on assigned project and or functional areas to ensure that products or services provided are in accordance with customer and Parsons requirements. Regularly interacts with other employees and representatives from a variety of functional groups, suppliers, subcontractors and client on project.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for:

Implementing inspection, examination, and testing procedures
Recording inspection, examination, and testing data
Planning inspections, evaluations, and tests; setting up tests, including preparation and set-up of related equipment
Evaluating the validity and acceptability of inspection, examination and testing results
Reporting inspection, examination and testing results
Mentoring lower-level QC Inspectors

Requirements

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

High school certificate or equivalent
10 years experience, all in medium to large-scale highway projects
Must be experienced and proficient in all aspects of materials inspection and testing on comparable projects, including bridge works and road works, concrete works, asphalt works, earthworks.
Must have knowledge of the necessary standards for sampling and testing of construction materials.
Must have a good command of written and spoken English
Must have safety awareness and training.
