The RoleThe RolePURPOSE OF WORK: To provide engineering services on mechanical and civil disciplines to progress, develop and implement additions and modifications to refinery facilities. To Provide technical guidance/ assistance on mechanical/ civil engineering topics to various refinery departments. REGULAR ASSIGNED DUTIES: 1. To define project requirements, develop proposals, estimate costs, obtain approvals, engineer design, procure materials, supervise construction and assist commissioning. Activities to be planned and coordinated with other refinery groups, vendors and contractors. 2. Assist with resolution of engineering problems and provide technical guidance by carrying out investigations, evaluating solutions and writing recommendations. This may involve researching references, organizing field tests and defining interpretation of codes and standards. 3. Suggest and define projects, assist in budget preparation, write applications for funding, prepare other information necessary for management consideration of projects. 4. Organize and monitor the work of support staff, refinery personnel, contractors and vendors during all project phases including; engineering, drafting, construction, inspection, testing and commissioning. RequirementsRequirementsEducational Requirements or Equivalent: BS Mechanical or Civil Engineering. Specialized Knowledge: Mechanical Engineer : Familiarity with refinery facilities & its basic operation, knowledge of refinery standards & codes, piping and equipment design, basic concrete and steel structural design, project cost estimating and scheduling. Civil Engineer : Familiarity with refinery facilities & its basic operation, knowledge of refinery standard & codes, concrete and steel structural design, basic piping and equipment design, project cost estimating and scheduling. Previous Experience Required: Three to five years experience Design Engineering; Construction Supervision; Project Management would be an asset. Working Knowledge to be Acquired on the job: Mechanical Engineer : Through understanding of project handling, approval and administration procedures. Working knowledge of pipe & pump sizing, design of piping & equipment and integration in refinery modification and upgrades. Use of computer programs of piping flexibility, cost estimate and project scheduling. Civil Engineer : Through understanding of project handling, approval and administration procedures. Working knowledge of concrete foundation design for refinery equipment, design of steel structure for piping & equipment and integration in refinery modification and upgrades. Use of computer programs for design of concrete & steel structural, cost estimate and project scheduling. |
