The RoleThe RoleResponsible to the Head of the Mechanical Engineering Department within a multi-discipline design office, the position involves working together with senior engineers and CAD operators on design, drafting and specification of HVAC systems and services for large scale building projects from concept stage to issuing of construction documents. Responsibilities include preparing design calculations, specifications and outline drawings directly on AutoCAD as well as supervising and checking the work of CAD operators. |
RequirementsRequirementsSuitable candidates will hold a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering and have a minimum of 5 years experience in the design of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems for building projects, including heating and cooling load calculations, air and chilled water distribution, ventilation, pressurization, smoke extract and equipment selection. At least 3 years experience should have been gained in the Middle East. Knowledge of HVAC systems and services for a variety of building types such as corporate, residential, hospitality, commercial and retail, etc. is required, together with an understanding of the inter-relationship and coordination requirements between the mechanical design and the architectural and other engineering design disciplines. Candidates will be able to produce clear and detailed calculations using proprietary HVAC design software such as Carrier E-20/HAP, Elite, etc. and other computer programmes for duct and pipe sizing, ESP drop, heat gain,etc. Candidates will also be conversant with international standards and codes of practice for HVAC engineering, including ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA and other regulatory standards. A high level of computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel are important and the ability to prepare drawings using AutoCAD would be a significant advantage. |
