Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Supervise and control the mechanical maintenance resources and activities and ensure that the production targets are achieved and mechanical equipment integrity is maintained. To encourage a culture of continuous improvement and learning by positive structured response to shortcomings and failures. To act as the focal point for design and implementation of improvements and plant modifications to enhance plant reliability and equipment performance. Other responsibilities are development of junior / fresh engineers and implementing a proactive maintenance strategy

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITY

Strategic:
* Achieve a level of understanding and competence in own discipline within the assignment period specified.
* Encourage a culture of continuous improvement and learning by positive structured response to shortcomings and failures
* Adhere to the maintenance schedules.
* Reduce Down time and improve Availability of equipment.
* Use own experience to effective cost cutting in terms of the effective spares parts utilization.
* Control the mechanical maintenance activities with effective administration.

Operational:
* Attain knowledge and understanding of relevant procedures, policies and work instructions. Gain knowledge and develop skills in all the maintenance functions.
* Contribute to the planning of shutdown and participate actively to carryout safety surveys and supervision of both in-house and vendor / contractor personnel to ensure completion of agreed schedule, scope and quality and ensuring safe working at all times.
* As the focal point actively involved in plant modifications and Management of Change related tasks and ensure the completion of approved proposals in a timely and safe manner.
* Prepare and review scope of work for modification related plant work and to identify suitable contractors for implementation.
* Towards the latter part of the assignment in mechanical section to develop supervisory skills and leadership roles through exposure acting in the capacity of a team leader or focal point as and when instructed.
* Arrange a quarterly review with the Mechanical Team lead to discuss achievements and other development and training needs.
* Attend training courses & personal development programs to attain specific knowledge and skills.
* Provide necessary mechanical support for meeting the design criteria of the equipment. Supervise the construction /installation pre-commissioning include review of equipment specification, maintenance, inspection aspect and testing of the static and rotating mechanical equipment to ensure overhaul integrity and reliability.
* Responsible for site execution and field coordination with the main EPC contractor /sub-contractor on mechanical items ensuring efficiency, effectiveness and safety at all times.
* To ensure that the procurement of static and rotating mechanical equipment and its spares are accordance with the COMPANY requirements and project/maintenance schedule.
* He shall be responsible for coordination with vendor/contractors personnel to ensure completion of agreed schedule, scope and quality and ensuring safe working at all times.
* He is responsible for trouble shooting and repairs, monitor equipment performance; contribute to the design and review of modifications proposal to utilize unexplored capabilities of the system. Monitor the job execution by the contractors (as appropriate) to ensure continuous improvement / optimization of equipment performance and safety.
* Work closely with Operations in any control strategy changes in order to improve operability of equipment and plant operations.
* Coordinate with internal and external facilities for smooth functioning of the mechanical system thus providing support to operations for improved plant performance

People Management:
* Training subordinates.
* Monitoring the performance of subordinates and identifying the training needs.

Requirements

* Degree / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
* 10 years experience in either Power & Water / Oil& Gas / Petrochemical industries of which 5 years has been in supervisory position

Training / Development Programs Required:
* High knowledge of plant equipment and piping system.
* Very good hands on experience in day to day plant maintenance with excellent fault finding ability.
* Very well conversant with International standards like API, ASME etc.
* Very well conversant with technical documentation system
* High knowledge of Plant mechanical equipment and piping systems,
* Familiar with the project specification
* Good understanding of concept of static & rotating equipment machinery such as; Gas turbines, Steam Turbines, Desalination, RO, heat exchangers, coolers, Package unit skids, pumps & compressors, blowers, filtration system.
* Experience of Shutdown planning and execution.
