Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

our client requires an experienced Oil and Gas Trainers to design and deliver a Competence Development Plan for Process Operation (Hydrocarbons) and Process Engineering Maintenance Staff based in Basra, Iraq.

Purpose of Role:

You will be part of a multi-national team delivering a range of training modules that underpin SVQ (Scottish Vocational Qualifications) Level 2 vocational awards accredited by SQA against OPITO National Occupational Standards

You will be knowledgeable and experienced in delivering class room training and on the job training covering general HSE and Permit to Work as well as Process Operations and Process Engineering Maintenance covering, Mechanical, Electrical and Instrument & Control Maintenance.

You will also be required to assess student workplace performance in accordance with SQA standards and guidance.

Delivery will be primarily in English but with capability for further explanation in Arabic.

Main Responsibilities

Work as part of a multi-national team delivering a range of SVQ Level 2 training courses that underpin SQA accredited vocational awards for Process Engineering Operations and Maintenance staff in the following disciplines:
Process Engineering Maintenance (Electrical) - Electrical Craftsperson
Process Engineering Maintenance (Mechanical) - Mechanical Craftsperson
Process Engineering Maintenance (Instrument and Control) - Instrument and Control Craftsperson
Processing Operations Hydrocarbons - Process Operator involved with Oil and Gas Production
Deliver classroom based and on the job training as required
Assess student Workplace Core Skills in accordance with SQA standards and guidance
Ensure candidates understand what is to be assessed and how it is to be assessed
Ensure the conditions and materials required for assessment tasks are available
Observe and record candidates carrying out the activities described in the standards — records should say what has been observed, how it is carried out, and what it demonstrates
Question candidates and record results
Authenticate the evidence candidates provide
Help candidates to gather and present evidence
Judge evidence
Record achievement
Identify gaps in candidates’ knowledge and skills
Provide feedback to candidates
Maintain Student Records in a e-Learning Management System
Competence Development Modules will include:
HSE
Permit to Work
Process Operations
Process Maintenance (Electrical, Mechanical and Instrumentation)

Requirements

Essential Capabilities

A minimum of 10 years experience in an operations environment in the oil & gas industry plus 5 years accredited teaching experience; or
A minimum of 20 years experience in an operations environment in the oil & gas industry.
Candidates will be required to possess a recognized Assessor qualification; an additional Verifier qualification will be preferred.
Previous Middle East training and classroom experience essential.
Fluency in English and Arabic essential.
Ability to quickly develop professional and trusted relationships with a variety of cultures and clients.
Willingness and ability to be flexible as befits a trainer’s role within a fast growing sector.
High level of self motivation and communication skills, which will enable excellence in a highly productive environment.
Strong team player who can communicate effectively with students, client and fellow training team-members.
Ability to work with a high level of initiative and limited supervision, often in high-pressure situations.
Ability to travel throughout the MENA region on a regular basis.
