Network Planning Engineer (Layer 3)

Job description / Role

• Establishes voice and data networks by running, pulling, terminating, troubleshooting, and splicing cables; installing telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, and alarm and fire-suppression systems; building ironwork and ladder racks; establishing connections; programming features; establishing connections and integrations; following industry standards; activating remote access tools; coordinating with contractors.
• Designs Solutions to circuit issues and customer issues and create proposals for new requirements
• Verifies service by testing circuits, equipment, and alarms; identifying, correcting, or escalating problems.
• Documents network by labeling and routing equipment and cables; recording configuration diagrams and specifications.
• Create method of procedure document for solutions provided to assist in future issues
• Maintains network by troubleshooting and repairing outages; testing network back-up procedures; updating documentation.
• Maintains customer rapport by listening to and resolving concerns; answering questions.
• Maintains safe work environment by following codes, standards, and legal regulations.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Participate in knowledge management by transferring knowledge to other members of the operations team.

Requirements

• 4-5 years of experience on Installation, testing and commissioning Ciena DWDM equipments.
• Bachelors of Science Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or Telecommunications is desired.
• Experience in transmission technique and optical equipment (SDH, PDH, Ethernet, OTN, WDM)
• Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA)
• Cisco Certified Voice Professional (CCVP)
• Advanced knowledge in Telecom operations support. PBX, IVR, Carrier Ops, Call Processing, Network Management, and IVR routing schemes, capabilities and concepts
