And they're looking to fill in the post of ODP (Operating Department Practitioner) Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. To provide dedicated assistance to the Anaesthetist and to deliver professional and high standards of care within the Theatre Suite.

1.1 To carry out duties as required under the direct supervision of the Anaesthetist including the drawing up and labelling of anaesthetic drugs in accordance with bpas Nursing Procedure.

1.2 To carry out safety and function checks on anaesthetic and monitoring equipment daily and prior to the commencement of every operating list. To report any malfunctions or problems to the responsible Nurse and Anaesthetist. To record daily checks in the appropriate book/register.

1.3 To ensure adequate supplies of oxygen and other anaesthetic gases are available within the Operating Theatre. To ensure that cylinders not in use are stored correctly.

1.4 To utilise correct aseptic techniques and ensure that single use items are replaced for each client. To clean, in accordance with Infection Control Procedures, any other equipment used in the treatment of clients.

1.5 To maintain high standards of cleanliness with regard to anaesthetic equipment and consumables at all times.

1.6 To implement emergency procedures including resuscitation as necessary and in accordance with Nursing Procedures.

2. To provide a professional and high standard of client care within the Theatre Suite.

2.1 To give attention to client needs, requests and wishes respecting the client’s dignity at all times.

2.2 To implement client checking procedures in the Holding Bay/Anaesthetic Room providing support, reassurance and information to the client as appropriate.

2.3 To accurately and promptly complete client documentation.

2.4 To assist in the positioning of clients within the Operating Theatre.

2.5 To relay to the Recovery Room staff accurate details of the client’s condition and any post operative instructions.

3. To undertake support duties within the Theatre Suite.

3.1 To carry out counts on swabs, instruments and needles in conjunction with another trained member of staff.

MINIMUM OF 10 YEARS EXPERIENCE IN THE HOSPITAL/ MEDICAL INDUSTRY
