Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Provides occupational health nurse care to workers at the company complex including first aid and emergency medical attention in lines with the companies health policies.

Actively involved in programmes and initiatives that systematically identify, assess and help control risks associated with all work-related hazards and continuous improvement in Occupational health and hygiene practices.

Occupational Health & Hygiene Management:
- Assists his Manager in developing and achieving health related objectives via the setting of annual department and company goals and objectives
- Conducts regular audits of areas in the plant where hygienic conditions must be maintained - coaches, trains and raises non-conformity reports
- Assists in the development and continuous improvement of occupational health related hazards at the company including heat, noise, dusts, etc and ensures that the company is in compliance with all industry best practice health and industrial hygiene regulations and laws, Up-to-date knowledge of Health and Hygiene regulations and OHSAS 18001 quality management of occupational health and safety. Drives the company occupational health management programme
- Ensures that any specialist project or work activity that is scheduled, is assessed in terms of the management of occupational hazards and health risks
- Keeps records of all worker medical records and liaises closely with human resources / personnel to ensure that communication regards medical tests and suitability / fitness to work is clear and complies with all the company policies and procedures
- Monitors all work related injury and illness and Identifies trends in medical occurrences and events at the company and in conjunction with his manager prepares management reports and recommendations to fill gaps and to continuously improve
- In conjunction with his Manager, drafts and approves health and occupational hygiene procedures which push for improvements in health management at the company

Health Care / Periodic Medicals:
- Provides specialist Clinic availability and health services to all employees for work related and non-work related injury and illness whilst ensuring that return to work issues are dealt with professionally and effectively
- Authorizes reimbursement of employee medical and dental expenses after ensuring conformity with all company policies.

Supports the Emergency Procedure by:
- Maintaining all specialist emergency healthcare equipment and vehicles so that it is always ready to be used and fully functional
- Trains and guides all First Aiders involved in potential medical emergency at the company and ensures that they have internationally recognised qualifications

Communications, Liaison and Mutual Aid:
- Liaises with health authorities including QP and MIC healthcare professionals, Qatar Health department and represents the company at a national health level. On a mutual aid basis, liaises closely with other MIC and Mesaieed Focal companies and neighbouring industry counterparts so that the company can benefit from peer review and consistent health standards
- Ensures that major health concerns are well communicated to workers via competent training of personnel, e-mail, newsletter or personal contact with at risk departments

Maintenance Turnaround / Outage and health coverage Support:
- During major outages, maintenance turnarounds and times of his absence at the company, coordinates suitable emergency coverage by ensuring that the Clinic is 24 hour manned by QP health nurses or equivalent. Also promotes and ensures that the daily morning meetings held with safety representatives include quality health and occupational hazards and control information that he prepares and presents

Requirements

- Holds a BSc in Nursing or a full currently recognized nursing certificate recognized internationally
- Minimum of 5 years extensive experience as a nurse in an industrial environment or similar potentially high risk environment or health care establishment
- Is an internationally recognized currently certified First Aider, Trainer and leading towards an industrial grade paramedic qualification
- Qualified in occupational health management in industry / the workplace and is also well grounded in safety and environment management
- English Language
- SEH & S Systems and QMS management systems knowledge
