Manage the Systems and Operational Planning functions of GCCIA
•Manage and provide technical expertise for GCCIA operations in developing and implementing transmission operation practices involving transient and dynamic stability and Transmission voltage support issues.
•Manage various engineering studies to analyze the interconnected transmission system
•Provides full support to Interconnection Control Centre for operation concern, system studies, analysing problems, monitoring performance and commissioning the new equipments providing the solutions and guidelines.
•Approve and issue various system performance reports including transmission availability, automatic/manual load shedding on the member states networks, system disturbances, demand forecasts and energy interchanges.
•Plan the operations of the network in coordination with asset maintenance and the projects group by scheduling major works across the the interconnected grid.
• Liaison with maintenance department and, Project management department and all the connected TSOs to formulate yearly transmission equipment outage plan in coordination with the with due regards to system security and reliability.
•Manage cost studies to determine the most optimal energy transfer between the member states to meet the anticipated demand requirements.
•Administrates and coordinates the scheduling efforts between various internal departments and external parties to efficiently and reliably expedite the implementation of construction projects.
•Continuous and close liaison and coordination with the GCC TSOs operations sections, as well as GCCIA control center and Market operations units.
•Participate in developing GCCIA Operating Procedures and updating of the Interconnection Transmission Code through the Operations Committee.
•Liaison with the GCC TSOs connected to the GCCIA System with regard to protection settings, and all related settings are in place.
•Review analysis of implications of outages of systems and equipment on member states and develop mitigation strategies
•Develop and monitor department budget
•Develop Operational Planning policies and procedures and foster application
•Coordinate with Talent Management department to ensure staff appropriate training level
•Review annual maintenance plan
•Validate power exchange schedule and coordinate with Trade
•Manage the coordination planning and operation with neighboring systems
•Approve medium and short term systems plans and impact performed by System Studies Engineer and escalate to Operations Planning & Control Director in coordination with Planning Engineering & Project Management
•Review system studies (harmony, synchronization, load flow, short circuit, contingency…) and develop conclusions, impact and plan of action
•Manage overall system performance
•Manage the KPI setting for the network and monitor the performance of member states
•Ensure that member states are abiding by agreements and meeting their obligations
•Ensure that the system is reliable and the established KPIs are being met
Educational Qualifications & Certifications
•Bachelor of Science with a specialization in Electrical Engineering
•MBA is a plus
