Job Description: Operations Director

To operationally oversee a portfolio of major projects delivered by site based senior project managers Pre & post contract role:
- Planning
- Tender settlement in conjunction with management team.
- Client interface
- Management of supply chain & sub-contractors
- Operational delivery

Projects carried out in the following sectors:
- Transportation and Infrastructure
- Heavy Civils
- Buildings & Factories
- Power Transmission & Distribution
- Water & Renewable Energy
- Rail

Key Tasks:
- Pre and post contract operational management role.
- To effectively manage all operational activities of the business unit focused towards operational support:
- Procurement
- Cost control
- Quality assurance
- Plant
- Operational delivery
- Client interface

- Operationally act as a focal point for the business, steering and guiding the business forward, ensuring key client liaison and development.
- Working closely with the Chief Executive in developing and steering a profitable and consistent level of business. Consolidating and servicing existing clients but also introducing the company into new revenue streams.
- Working with the work winning team (Business development / Estimating / Bid management)
- Working with the commercial team to ensure effective cash flow management.
- Hold regular review meetings with the management team developing a proactive focus upon quality, overheads, manpower, programming, organisation and delivery aspects.
- Co-ordinate and add value at bid stage of new schemes.
- Develop the delivery process to ensure timely effective completion and handover of schemes.
- To further develop and enhance the supply chain and sub-contractor partnering process.
- To ensure all existing standards and quality systems are maintained and improved upon as and when necessary.
- To ensure a high level of teamwork and cohesion between staff.
- To effectively manage overall risk to the business, ensure best practice.
- Report back to the Chief Executive on ongoing issues keeping him informed of any potential problems that could affect the business.

Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Experience:
- To have a proven track record in delivering major building, infrastructure and rail projects valued at USD 250 million+ from inception through to handover.
- To have experience of a variety of projects including development, traditional contracting and design and build
- To have had first-hand experience of project management and therefore able to demonstrate a tenacious approach to getting the job done.
- Must possess an excellent understanding of the contracting process as well as the ability to manage and develop the business.
- To have previous experience of working in a client/end user focused environment
- Able to demonstrate a career of steady progression, climbing through the construction/production ranks in a structured manner with reputable organisations.
- Equal levels of experience at both pre and post contract stage.
- Proven expertise in the KSA market gained with a major contractor / client organization.
