The RoleThe RoleThe Database Administrator is responsible for managing the database and data dictionaries of the enterprise, troubleshooting, and system management within technical services. The manager is responsible for data management, system management and system programming in the enterprise’s database computing environment. Database management includes configuration, security, resource monitoring and reporting, troubleshooting, and the development of specialized programs. The manager helps coordinate software issues with other IT organizations including applications and operations. The Database Administrator serves as a futurist within IT, keeping the enterprise on the “cutting edge” of current database technology. |
RequirementsRequirementsQualifications Education: Minimum Diploma or Bachelor leval education in a relevant field. Candidates with exceptionally strong(6+ years of directly related experience) may be considered even if they do not fulfill educational requirements. Oracle 9i and 10g Certifications a plus. Knowledge: A minimum of five years of work-related knowledge or experience is needed for this role. Areas of specific interest are: • Must have solid knowledge Working Knowledge in Windows 98/NT/2000/2003, Unix & Linux • Working Knowledge in Oracle 8i/9i/10g • knowledge of both English and Arabic is an advantage Experience: • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience • Experience in the following, Data Guard, ASM, OEM 10g, Clusterware & Failover a plus • Past experience as a part of 24/7 on call support team • Proven experience in 9i to 10g upgrades / and 10g installations • Expert level production 10g experience • Experience with Oracle RAC Tasks: • Working Knowledge in Windows 98/NT/2000/2003, Unix, Linux • Working Knowledge in Oracle 8i/9i/10g • Install and Configure Oracle software • Working in multi Oracle Architecture & platforms • Setup Oracle Database Security • Planning, Creating, Tuning, Backup & Recovery • Working with Data Guard with Oracle 10g. • Database Monitoring • Working in Oracle RAC environment • Expert level production 10g experience • Expert level PL/SQL performance tuning • Proven experience in 9i to 10g upgrades / experience in o installations of 10g • Past experience as a part of a 24/7 on call support team • Working in the following in the following: Data Guard, ASM, OEM 10g, Clusterware & Failover Skills: • Oracle Administration • Oracle Database Security • Oracle DB tuning • Oracle RAC implementation • Strong verbal and written communications skills • Ability to be flexible and adaptable • Ability to quickly adapt and learn new technologies and approaches on your own • Good human relations skills are required • Tact and diplomacy is required in dealing with the other functions and divisions • Individual must be capable of organizing and prioritizing a highly varied work schedule, handling multiple projects simultaneously, be able to work effectively under pressure within limited time constraints • Oracle Certifications in 10g General: • BS or BA degree in Computer Science or related field • Oracle 10g DB Certification • 5 years of database design and programming experience, 3 years using the database(s) the enterprise uses • Exposure to system internals, the knowledge of low level database programming languages • Knowledge of database and telecommunication systems • Knowledge of relational database technology, transaction processing procedures, and advanced modeling and design tools • Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing |
