The RoleThe RolePlans and provides a wide range of specialized technical support (1st and 2nd level). This includes installation of personal computer and associated peripherals and accessories, undertaking personal computer preventative maintenance and minor repairs, carrying out software installation and updates on personal computers, responding to user support calls reported to the Helpdesk, troubleshooting and resolving PC related hardware and software problems, investigating users’ upgrade requests and recommending solutions to the supervisor as appropriate and providing PC training to users on as-needed basis. This also includes carrying out administrative work related to the technical support activities such as maintaining support calls records, taking and updating the IT inventory database, and preparing daily/weekly activity reports. * Carries out the installation of personal computers throughout the Company at both onshore and offshore locations. Includes arranging for the delivery of PC’s from the supplier or in-house stores supervisor, installing and testing computer hardware and software, peripherals, such as printers, modems etc as required at the user location. * Modifies or repairs personal computers including replacing or installing BIOS chips and other identified faulty chips, disks and disk controllers, cards and boards. Contacts supervisor or personal computer maintenance contractors to facilitate the repair of complex or difficult faults, which are not readily identifiable. |
RequirementsRequirements* Completion of Secondary (12 years) education plus 2-3 years of formal training leading to a certificate computer science subject. A+ certification is an added qualification. * 5 years in the support of personal computers both hardware and software with basic knowledge of networks. * Good spoken and written English. |
