Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Our client, a government organisation, is recruiting for a candidate who is able to develop and promote tourism in order to attract visitors from a particular region/s and produce significant economic benefits for the destination. The candidate should be able to work, coordinate and improve relations with tour operators and travel agencies both local and overseas. All candidates who apply MUST be fluent in Arabic and English.

All candidates will be required to carry out the following responsibilities:
- Introduce new and develop quality tourism products to attract new tourists to the city and country.
- Work with key departments to assist in design package offerings with stakeholders to attract new and maintain existing market to the destination.
- Assess and improve existing product such as cruise service, education, tourism, etc.
- Create marketing and pr plans for tourism development.
- Create or adopt certification schemes for the destination and/or tourism businesses to promote sustainability practices and quality service provision.
- Formulate and implement tourism destination strategies.
- Recommend and co-ordinate marketing campaigns.
- Promote investment into the destination.
- Liaise with the government to create more tourism-friendly legislation.
- Undertake factual desk and market research about visitors to particular attractions.
- Collect, tabulate, and interpret statistics from hotels and other lodging establishments.
- Research products and services of competitor destinations.
- Provide a range of information on local resources and facilities.
- Give talks to local parties, community groups, and schools, as requested.
- Respond to enquiries from members of the public.
- Coordinate and provide support to special and seasonal events and festivals.
- Liaise with tourism operators and the media.
- Develop e-tourism platforms.

Requirements

- BSc degree in Marketing, Business Administration or related.
- Fluent in Arabic and English.
- Min. 5 years experience in Marketing and preferably destination development.
- Experience working with other government agencies across the UAE or GCC.
- Must have excellent communication skills and ability to travel.
- UAE drivers license.
