Employment: Full Time

Performance of a diverse range of legal tasks for MAFP’s Legal Department.

Key Tasks:

1.Assisting senior lawyers in the preparation of standard legal documents, including (but not limited to) contractual agreements and letters using legal templates.

2.Assisting in the finalization of agreements by performing miscellaneous tasks such as, highlighting textual changes in draft agreements, collating enclosures to be attached to agreements etc.

3.Adapting standard templates to prepare low risk contracts for review by senior lawyers.

4.Regular updating of lease templates for each of the countries where MAFP operates.

5.Preparing monthly status updates of legal work performed for internal department heads.

6.Reviewing incoming faxes and advising lawyers of relevant deadlines and notices as well as diarizing the same, and providing reminders periodically to the lawyers where necessary.

7.Preparing legal notices under the supervision of senior lawyer, arranging for service of such notices, obtaining proofs of delivery and maintaining legal records of the same.

8.Independently liaising with external lawyers with respect to basic follow-up of legal correspondence and monitoring of relevant litigation/court deadlines and keeping senior lawyers advised of the same.

9.Liaison and follow up with internal departments/ divisions.

10.Preparation of work status reports for lawyers in the Department.

11.Acting as the facilitator for the signing of contracts, document management/ tracking and safe keeping of original agreements.

12.Miscellaneous administrative support to the Legal Department such as organizing internal/external meetings, business travel arrangements and assistance with IT matters.

Requirements

1.University degree
2.For someone joining directly as a paralegal (ie with legal training or a degree, but no work experience, at least one year (depending on aptitude)
3.For someone joining as a secretary who converts to the role of paralegal, approximately 2-3 years (depending on aptitude)

6.good organizational skills and ability to anticipate and plan ahead
7.knowledge and familiarity with Leasing, operations and property development documentation
8.ability to work under pressure
9.proficiency in the use of computers.
