The Role

Basic Function:

Within the mission, vision and values of Saudi Arabian National Guard - Health Affairs, the Emergency Medical Services, provides professional pre-hospital and in-hospital emergency care, following established standards, protocols and procedures, within the scope of practice of the Paramedic.

Principle Duties:
1.0 Clinical Practice:
1.1 Diligently completes assigned responsibilities, while functioning within established hospital, division and EMS guidelines, standards and directives, under the immediate supervision of the Charge Paramedic.
1.2 Accountable for providing high quality patient care, both pre-hospital and in-hospital, based on a competent understanding of the patient / customer needs, within established policies, procedures and protocols.
1.3 Provides attentive patient care in a thorough, efficient and cost effective manner.
1.4 Maintains an awareness of the patient's physical, medical and cultural needs at all times.
1.5 Maintains a working knowledge of current trends in EMS and new developments in the healthcare field.
1.6 Anticipates potential problems and responds to them appropriately.
1.7 Accountable for operating and maintaining EMS vehicles and equipment properly, to avoid damage or breakage.
1.8 Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.

2.0 Administration:
2.1 Eagerly exercises detailed attention to duty, while efficiently completing obligatory requirements.
2.2 Ensures EMS vehicles, equipment and supplies are in a constant state of readiness.
2.3 Consistently adheres to and implements EMS administrative and Medical Control directives.
2.4 Willingly completes administrative and clinical functions as assigned by the Charge Paramedic.
2.5 Actively participates in EMS staff meetings.

3.0 Education & Research:
3.1 Consistently attends skills maintenance programs to ensure professional proficiency.
3.2 Maintains professional licensure and required certifications.
3.3 Participates in the development and presentation of educational awareness programs.
3.4 Attempts to improve communications in English / Arabic.
3.5 Assists in the orientation and professional development of other EMS personnel.
3.6 Attends professional development courses and participates in professional research programs.

4.0 Quality:
4.1 Provides continuous feedback to improve working environment and patient care.
4.2 Continually strives to deliver a higher level of quality care.
4.3 Utilizes medical supplies properly, to avoid wastage.
4.4 Assists in situational problem solving and in the utilization of limited resources and supplies.
4.5 Anticipates ways to assist other staff members, while encouraging a cohesive teamwork approach in the workplace.

5.0 Professionalism:
5.1 Works in harmonious partnership with members of the EMS team and other health care professionals.
5.2 Promotes a positive attitude within the EMS team while responding to the needs of fellow team members.
5.3 Maintains a professional image and proper grooming at all times.
5.4 Punctual, arrives on time for duty, organizes daily tasks and break times efficiently and effectively.

6.0 Performs other duties as assigned by the EMS Medical Director and or the Chairman, Department of Emergency Medicine, which are within the post-holder's qualifications and capabilities.

Requirements

Essential and Preferred Requirements: (P-Preferred, E-Essential, B-Beneficial).

Education: Western EMS Licensure equivalent to U.S. DoT Paramedic or higher - E

Work Experience: Three (3) years experience as an Advanced Life Support (ALS) Paramedic - E
Certified: Basic Life Support (BLS) & Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support
(pHTLS) - E
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) & Pediatric Advanced Life Support
(PALS) - E
Additional EMS Certification Courses i.e., Critical Care EMT Paramedic
(CCEMT -P) - P

English Language Skills: Level- I - E

Arabic Language Skills: Preferred

Computer Skills (Level): Basic Level- E
