Payroll Manager

NYU Abu Dhabi is seeking to appoint an Payroll Manager who will have primary responsibility for continued growth of the Payroll Department, as operations of the branch campus develop and employee volume increases.

Reporting to the Associate Controller, the incumbent will be responsible for continued growth of the Payroll Department, as operations of the branch campus develop and employee volume increases.

The Payroll Manager is responsible for delivering net payroll to approximately 300 faculty and staff at NYUAD and the successful incumbent must have familiarity with US payroll tax laws. The role will also be responsible for managing the workload carried by NYUAD's external consultant for tax levelization.

The Payroll Manager will also play an integral role in developing, implementing, and maintaining best practice policies and procedures of payroll and related services.

Responsibilities include:

• Deliver timely and accurate payroll (monthly and off-cycle) ensuring the payroll is processed and reported in compliance with all relevant laws.
• Verify payroll output and net pay distribution.
• Verify reconciliation of quarterly/annual tax filings to payroll data, initiating payment of taxes on a timely basis
• Manage the relationship with the tax levelization service provider
• Develop, maintain and deliver monthly activity and status reports of levelization activities
• Ensure services expected are delivered timely and in compliance with NYU Abu Dhabi tax levelization policies
• Liaise with new employees assisting with payroll queries and other customer services

Requirements

To be successful in this role you must possess the following skills and experience:

• Bachelor Degree in Finance or Accounting. Master Degree is preferable.
• US Payroll Tax experience (essential)
• Minimum of 4 years progressive experience working with within a payroll department.
• Experience with payroll practices of higher education, not-for-profit, and/or major decentralized international organizations.
• Experience troubleshooting technical/functional issues
• ERP PeopleSoft experience preferred.
