Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- Reviews, or directs review of, personnel records to determine names, rates of pay, and occupations of newly hired workers, and changes in wage rates and occupations of employees on payroll.
- Records, or directs recording of, new or changed pay rates in payroll register or computer files.
- Directs computation of pay according to company policy.
- Directs compilation and preparation of other payroll data such as pension, insurance, and credit union payments.
- Reviews and approves payroll deductions.
- Interprets company policies and government regulations affecting payroll procedures.
- Directs preparation of government reports.
- Reviews payroll to ensure accuracy.
- Determines work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites workflow.
- Issues written and oral instructions.
- Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
- Maintains harmony among workers and resolves grievances.
- Adjusts errors and address complaints.

Requirements

- Education: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience / or Appropriate Degree in Business Management, Finance or equivalent.

- Experience: 2-3 years relevant working experience related to payroll in the same or similar field.

- Language /Numerical Ability: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

- Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of HRIS, Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Internet software and Database software.
