Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Member of the professional dental team providing primary, interceptive, therapeutic, preventive, and ongoing care procedures to children.
3.1 Have knowledge of dental anatomy, oral physiology, biochemistry and biomedical science.
3.2 Competent at using information technology.
3.3 Competent at communication with children, their parents and caregivers.
3.4 Familiar with manifestation of human diseases and disorders relevant to practice of dentistry, including their investigation and management.
3.5 Identify children at risk for medical emergencies and use strategies to minimize those risks.
3.6 Competent at carrying out resuscitation technique.
3.7 Have knowledge of how to provide immediate management of anaphylactic reaction, hypoglycemia, upper respiratory obstruction, cardiac arrest, fits, vasovagal attack, inhalation or ingestion of foreign bodies and hemorrhage.
3.8 Competent at maintaining full, accurate clinical records.
3.9 Familiar with the law as it applies to records.
3.10 Have knowledge of responsibilities of consent, duty of care and confidentiality.
3.11 Have knowledge of patients’ right and how to handle complaints.
3.12 Familiar with the legal and ethical obligations.
3.13 Familiar with the obligation to practice in the best interests of the patient at all times.
3.14 Familiar with the need for lifelong learning and professional development.
3.15 Have knowledge of health and safety legislation as it affects clinical practice.
3.16 Integrates principles of body ergonomics to support one’s health.
3.17 Competent at the control selection and manipulation of dental biomaterials.
3.18 Have knowledge of the limitations of dental biomaterials.
3.19 Familiar with those aspects of biomaterials safety that relate to the work.
