General Description

The performance test leads responsibilities include working closely with development, architect and sustain teams to ensure solutions are deployed that meet the expectations of our customer and are stable, predictable, and sustainable.

The ideal candidate is: organized; detail oriented; has great communication skills; thrives in a fast-paced environment and can integrate performance testing into cross-functional information technology projects.

The responsibilities include coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver performance test results according to plan. The performance test lead will be involved in early project planning, collaborating in a consulting role with project teams to define test strategy, test plans & cases, and test results. Work must be performed in line with corporate policies and procedures but requires a high level of independent judgment, creative planning and cross-functional collaboration.

Tasks and Activities

•Understanding of the application functionality and Non Functional requirements along with SLA's defined.
•Identifying the test scenario's to validate the performance of key business functions and certifying the NFR requirements.
•Identify the test environment, test data and access needs.
•Create performance test plans, baselines, execute planned tests.
•Analyze test results and call out any discrepancies against the SLA's.
•Publish performance analysis reports and conduct review sessions with all the stakeholders.
•Maintain flexible work schedules driven by test environment availability.
•Provide ad-hoc performance testing/load generation for support of development tasks.
•Instrumentation Design and Configuration
•Transaction Profiling & Application Characterization
•Conduct, when necessary, and review results of transaction profiling
•Response Time Modeling
•Design & Build Load Testing
•Assist with Troubleshooting & System Tuning
•Production Threshold Definition
•Speeds & Feeds Customization
•Lead all performance test reviews
•Review all performance test artifacts for comment and approval,
•Write and distribute risk assessment
•Lead review of actual versus predicted performance
•Educate teams on performance testing processes, methodology, performance & scalability and the science of testing

Requirements

Basic Skills Required

•BS Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
•7 + years performance testing and work load modelling experience
•3+ years of experience in performance test planning, team management and coordination.
•Advanced knowledge of LoadRunner & Performance Center Experience
•Experience developing and deploying test strategies for software applications and interfaces
•3+ years experience in managing performance testing
•Familiar with Java 2 Enterprise Edition, Micro Edition, and Standard Edition
•Familiar with web services, Simple Network Management Protocol, Java Massaging Service, Extensible Markup Language (XML), Simple Object Access
•Familiar with Protocol (SOAP), and Unified Modeling Language (UML)
•Demonstrated strong leadership skill
•Strong analytical & problem solving skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent people skills and a strong team player
•High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
•Demonstrated technical and professional skills in job-related area required
•Appropriate interpersonal styles and communication methods to work effectively with business partners to meet mutual goals required
•Knowledge of computer software
•Experience with information technology (IT) in sourcing, outsourcing and offshore development models

Basic Skills Preferred

•Advanced degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field
•Experience in production application support and incident management
•Proven ability to adapt and implement industry-leading software processes
•Experience with supplier agreement management
•Experience delivering projects using the GM System Delivery Process (i.e. SDP-21) framework
•Familiar with vehicle development & launch processes
•Familiar with embedded system development lifecycle
•Experience with call center telephony and computer and telephony integration (CTI)
