The RoleThe Role• Receives medication orders and capture all incoming medication administration records (MAR) into the hospital computer system • Return stocks to the shelves and maintains a neat, clean and professional appearing environment • Credit hospital patients for stock returns • Performs administrative and secretarial duties as requested and assist with annual stock take • Maintains files and records in good order • Assists in the technical aspects of the distribution of medications and related functions under the direct supervision of a pharmacist and/or assistant pharmacist to aid in the delivery of patient care • Assists the pharmacist & assistant pharmacist with preparation of medications for patients and unpacks orders, places medication in stock, and repackages orders for patients and/or various locations • Attends required in-service training programs as required • Patient confidentiality is maintained |
RequirementsRequirements• Pharmacy degree / diploma or similar qualification required (licensure not needed) • Two years hospital experience as pharmacy clerk is preferred • Basic knowledge of medications, medical nomenclature, physician's prescription orders, and insurance/billing systems desired • Attention to detail with the ability to work accurately is of utmost importance • Ability to independently read and interpret prescription orders • Must be computer literate with a minimum typing speed of 45 wpm • Excellent command of written and spoken English, knowledge of spoken and written Arabic is an advantage • Must have excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills • Ability to function effectively under pressure |
