Job description / Role
Piping Design Engineer designs, plans and oversees the piping of new and existing air conditioning equipment. He / She ensures the optimum design of piping to achieve the best performance and layout.
Job Responsibilities
- Designs / Draws piping assemblies and sub-assemblies;
- Generates drawings and cutting lists of piping assemblies with proper numbering for manufacturing purposes;
- Creates assembly drawings (exploded views if required) for assembly purposes;
- Coordinates with Sheet Metal design and Structural design for optimum and mistake-free design;
- Calculates pressure drops in pipe lines for optimum design and sizing of pipes
- Follow-ups design with production and assembly as and when required
- Development of field installation plans and procedures
- Compliance with design methods and safety factors to be used in design of units
- Reviews Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs) with emphasis on equipment safety and operability
- Performs piping engineering studies and analyses
- Prepares and maintains Piping Materials
- Provides appropriate technical specifications to be used for piping and piping system components
- Reviews of piping stress calculations
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Equivalent)
- Minimum 3 years of experience in the same field.
- Using computers and computer-aided design (CAD) technology for simulation purposes
- Awareness in methods in construction of air-conditioning equipment, as well as health, safety and legal considerations
- Awareness to all parts/components used in air conditioning equipment
- Thorough knowledge of Mechanical refrigeration piping design principles and manufacturing processes and applicable codes and standards
- Highly analytical, creativity, mathematical skills, IT and mechanics
- Good problem solving skills and ability to manage large projects, including looking after budget, and can meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
