Piping Designer (Contract)

Job description / Role

Responsible for basic and detailed engineering of mechanical systems like tanks, piping etc, generating reports for feasibility studies, economic studies etc, tender preparation and project management including construction management.

Reporting to: Sub Division Manager

Main Duties & Responsibilities
- Preparation of specifications and data sheets for mechanical systems like tanks, piping systems and equipment. Stress calculations for piping systems, routing and layout
- Analysis of arrangements for piping tie-ins
- Piping General Arrangement drawings
- Preparation of Bill of quantities and material requisitions
- Review of vendor documents
- Site visits for survey and technical meetings with client
- Sending enquiries, vendor follow-up, assistance in placing Purchase Orders, scrutiny of vendor documents
- Prepare and study technical drawings, specifications of mechanical systems, and topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements
- Plan and implement research methodology and procedures to apply engineering principles and design done, to projects
- Prepare specifications for purchase of materials and equipment
- Confer with engineers, customers, and others to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and products
- Operate computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks
- Direct and coordinate manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
- Direct and supervise critical activities related to construction of important equipment and systems

Requirements

- Minimum HND or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Minimum of 08 years related experience plus proven capability in an engineering design firm
- Minimum of 4 years experience in design of oil & gas facilities with extensive experience in front end and detailed design, plus proven experience in AutoCAD
- Good spoken and written English and PC literate
- Senior Designer shall have good skills in management of a pool of Designers / draftspersons and also task planning to meet schedules. Hence must have good interpersonal and communication skills
