Piping Designer

Job description / Role

- To discuss problems or alternative solutions with the relevant design engineer and know when to seek advice.
- Taking design sketches from engineers and adding the additional details, confirming that these details conform to the clients standards and including any additional details or views to better explain the design concept or to assist the construction team.
- Responsible to the for department based work or to Lead Discipline Engineer for work on a particular project.
- Prepare detailed mark-ups or sketches either to scale or with the dimensions together with any additional details (i.e. direction of north arrow) in sufficient detail to allow the CADD department to produce a drawing.
- Perform MTO of materials for presentation to Client.
- Perform checking of CADD output drawings to originals without re-engineering the design.
- Use client, vendor or sub-contractor details to advantage especially where it makes the job easier. Know where to find details of sizes, dimensions, or construction of items you intend to use in the design.
- Confirm that decisions made are not going to make problems for somebody else by inter-discipline liaison.
- Conscious of value and constructability issues.
- Explain the design to the CADD Operator or Draftsman who is preparing the completed drawings, manage them and respond to their queries positively. Always be aware of when the drawings are required.
- Research details provided by clients, vendors or sub-contractors to finalize designs and allow materials to be specified.
- Any other adhoc duties as assigned from time to time.

Requirements

- Diploma in Engineering
- Minimum of 5 experience working on Oil & Gas projects.
- Technical Qualification in the latest versions of AutoCAD & Microstation
- Experience in using PDS
- Middle East work experience would be preferable
