Description and Desired Qualifications

Planner (site based) - Basrah, Iraq

Key basic function and scope include:
Coordinates and contributes to all aspects of project planning and schedule development for the project. Works with contractors to establish their part of the project schedule and develops total project schedule based on contractors' work and Company work. Establishes schedules for options and potential changes

Responsibilities:

The key responsibilities of this position include:

Review and provide Owners' input to contractors as they develop schedules for their project components, and also reviews contractors' schedules for adequacy.
Lead the integration and roll-up of contractors' schedules, along with Owners' tasks, resulting in an overall Owners' Project Schedule.
Fully aware of general contractual terms and conditions, scope of work, reporting requirement, preparation of project budget, cash flows & cost reporting if required.
Assure accuracy and timelines of scheduling data.
Provide schedule variance analysis.
Develop project schedules.
Develop work around schedules and project options schedules.
Advise project management concerning the impact of potential changes and advise the corrective actions whenever needed.
Assure schedule related information, including analysis of deviations from the plan, is communicated to PMT members.
Interface with independent project reviews.
Establish Owners' schedule milestones.
Monitor contractor and Owner actual progress versus planned progress, provides exception reporting, and recommends actions.
Define and optimizes critical paths.
Prepare overall schedule report analysis for the project manager's daily, weekly, and monthly progress report.
Seek innovation in scheduling and execution plans that could improve project economics.
Responsible for Cost Estimating and Cost Control to ensure best application of integrated project control.

The work schedule will be 7 days per week, 9.5 hours per day with a 3 month on/2 weeks off rotation.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

Key qualifications for this position include:

A bachelor's degree in engineering or from an accredited university preferred
A minimum of 10 years project planning experience
Experience on large-scale oil/gas and petrochemical capital projects preferred
Has clearly demonstrated strong technical competence
Primavera P6 is essential. Knowledge on MS Project is also considered for short listing.
Demonstrated ability to identify EPC activities, assess durations and prepare a CP schedule utilizing sound PC principles for activity logic
Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze project and subcontractor's schedules, assess logic and prepare forecasts
Ability to run a CRA utilizing appropriate electronic tools
Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment
Demonstrated interpersonal/team building skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
