Job description / Role
Role and Purpose of the Job:
To manage the Planning and Design Section and ensure overall budget and quality targets of the section and of the planning and design projects are met.
Key Accountabilities:
- Initiates the concept design process including obtaining information about the site and ensures Project Brief is developed by the Business Development Manager in an accurate and timely manner.
- Resolves any escalations with respect to land affection plan.
- Initiates and oversees the process of appointment of Design Consultants (i.e. Design Consultants, Project Management Consultant and other Specialty Consultants)and ensures it is in accordance with the company Procurement Policies.
- Provides inputs to Design Manager with respect to queries raised by Design Consultants during their selection process.
- Evaluates the Design Consultants for the purpose of their selection and prepares a report incorporating feedback from all the key stakeholders.
- Provides inputs for the Feasibility Study and Development Strategy to Business Development Section.
- Leads and provides technical inputs (along with Design Manager) on Schematic Design and Detailed Design to Design Consultants.
- Reviews the deliverables of Design Phase and obtains approval from the relevant authorities.
- Reviews the Developmental Appraisal Report and deviations with respect to cost for schematic / detail design phase.
- Reviews the variation order as forwarded by the Design Manager and obtains approval from the relevant authorities.
- Reviews the impact of extension of timelines for the design phase (as developed in the Impact Assessment Report) and forwards it to appropriate authority for approval.
- Reviews the payment for Design Consultants and forwards it to relevant authority (as per DoA) for approval.
- Allocates resources to Design Projects undertaken by the company.
- Develops the Planning & Design Section budget and ensures they are being met.
- Contributes to the development of Planning & Design Section Strategy and Business Plan.
- Ensures the development of Policies and Procedures for Planning & Design section.
- Performs any other relevant task as directed by Executive Director Projects and Engineering.
Requirements
The position reports to Executive Director, Projects & Engineering and manages a Team of Design Managers.
- Bachelors degree in Engineering preferably in Architectural Engineering or Planning
- 10-18 years of experience in Planning & Design Management with at least 4 years relevant managerial experience
