Job description / Role
- Responsible for applying casts to patients following a wide range of orthopedic surgical procedures, providing specialist advice to patients and colleagues regarding plaster casting, and the eventual removal of casts.
- Application of upper and lower limb casts
- Application of back slabs, ankle booties, arm slings and neck collars
- Application of zimmer splints, mallet splints and buddy strapping to digits
- Attend to operation theater procedures
- Application of skin traction in A&E and the wards
- Remove casts and check for signs of infections
- Educate and advise patients on the use of walking aids
- Stock and equipment control
- Client expectations are met
Requirements
- Completion of Higher Secondary School AND Certificate confirming on the job training AND Certification in casting techniques
- Minimum of 2 years experience in the designated field
- Can work independently within a set guidelines
- At ease in multicultural environment
- High level of customer service orientation
- Familiarity with accreditation process is an advantage
- Computer literacy at a basic level
