Job description / Role
- Leads and controls Plumbers engaged in all activities concerned with the maintenance and occasional civil works.
- Will have the ability to optimize resources manpower, equipment and materials to ensure efficient and timely completion of the works or tasks.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow method statements and procedures, specifications, drawings and all other discipline related project and engineering documentation.
- Commands respect of his workforce and develop excellent working relationships with all other departmental personnel
- Must be a good communicator. Able to give instructions in an efficient and effective way to his workforce. Liaises with other discipline foremen to ensure the optimum utilization of available work, with the overall objective of successful completion of the project
- Leads and supervises workers engaged in the plumbing of buildings, grounds and other civil works. Assists the civil engineer/supervisor in the coordination and performance or related activities such as setting out, preparation of lines, plumbing and fixing sanitary fittings testing etc
- To ensure the plumbing team is properly supplied with PPE, tools, equipment and materials. Prevents wastage and misuse of tools, materials
- Supervises work teams to best utilize manpower and materials, exercises discipline at the work site to prevent absenteeism, unsafe work practices and idleness
Requirements
- Minimum ten years experience in a supervisory capacity
- Technically qualified from a recognized educational institute
- Preferably apprentice trained
- Hands on approach
- Must have knowledge in all aspects of plumbing, including drains, sewers, lifting stations, hot & cold water systems, treatment plants
- Garden irrigation systems would be a distinct advantage
- NFPA accreditation would be highly desirable
- Familiar with all Safety & Health aspects pertaining to drinking water, showers and legionella control
- Formal H&S qualification is preferred - IOSH, NEBOSH
