Job description / Role
- Review mechanical Plumbing and Firefighting systems design prepared by local and international engineering firms of Deep Underground Metro Stations and industrial buildings to be built on the Qatar Integrated Metro Project in Doha, Qatar.
- Assure that design is in compliance with employers requirements (ER), local design guidelines, local codes, international codes and international standards of independent engineering firms that are carrying out the detailed engineering design.
- Coordinate and visit jobsite as required, to resolve problems, interpret drawings and documents and provide technical support during the construction phase.
- Provide overview and guidance to young engineers working within the same group. Assist in on-the-job training of junior mechanical engineers.
- Represent the JV in technical meetings and add Value Engineering to the team.
- Coordinate with other disciplines, consultants and attend project meetings.
- Review contractors shop drawings, technical queries and technical submittals to ensure compliance with design documents.
Requirements
- College Graduate with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.
- Chartered or Professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred.
- Must have minimum 10 years + experience in the design of buildings plumbing and fire protection systems. Knowledgeable of HVAC chilled water systems.
- Experience in field construction and inspection of mechanical systems for initial acceptance.
- Knowledge in building codes and standards, EN, BS, IBC, IMC, IPC, IFC, ASHRAE, NFPA, ANSI, ASME, AWWA & API.
- Knowledge with AutoCAD, TRACE 700, Elite, MS Word and Excel.
- Experience in the design of lift stations and waste water treatment systems is a plus.
- 10+ years experience with major buildings fire suppression systems, building management systems, industrial infrastructure, pumps, pipe networks
