Employment: Full Time

Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Management, the Portfolio Manager will manage the assigned client investment portfolios with his/her specialised investment expertise across asset classes. The portfolio manager will implement optimal portfolio solutions to a wide range of client needs with on objective to create alpha using a multi-dimensional approach. The main responsibilities would include portfolio construction, rebalancing and tactical strategy implementation across discretionary client mandates.

The portfolio manager will ensure consistent implementation of investment insights and take responsibility for the successful and accurate implementation of the investment mandates. The portfolio manager will be responsible for researching, analysing and appraising investment opportunities across asset classes and geographies through comprehensive quantitative, qualitative, and other relevant methods and criteria from a buy-side perspective.

The portfolio manager will be instrumental in helping the sales team in meetings with institutional and HNI clients to pitch discretionary portfolios. The portfolio manager will access clients risk appetite, return objectives, investment preference and draft the investment policy statement accordingly. The portfolio manager will prepare monthly client reports/fact sheets with monthly market commentary relevant to the investment mandate. The portfolio manager will ensure consistency in various monthly client holding reports which are consistent across the systems used at ADCB and highlight any discrepancy.

Key Results Areas:
- Analysis of investments for the client investment portfolios under management
- Implementing value-enhancing investment strategies for the client investment portfolio managed by ADCB
- Managing portfolios in-line with equity model portfolio and risk-profiled asset-allocation models
- Performance of the underlying discretionary portfolios
- Updating and maintenance of model portfolios and asset allocation models
- Preparing periodic reports to meet internal control requirements
- Preparing periodic reports to meet clients requirements

Main Tasks & Responsibilities:
- The portfolio manager will manage client mandates as per its investment policy statement.
- Responsible for portfolio construction, re-balancing and tactical strategy implementation across discretionary client mandates
- The portfolio manager will support the relationship managers/ private bankers in pitching discretionary mandates and bespoke discretionary mandates.
- Establish and access clients risk appetite, return objectives, investment preference and translate clients requirements into an investment policy statement and implementation of the same
- The portfolio will be responsible for developing and managing portfolios that track various asset allocation models.
- The portfolio will use various tools and systems available and conduct a top down and bottom-up analysis along with qualitative and quantitative analysis over different periods.
- Constantly look for trade ideas, investment strategies and implement tactical changes that are suitable and appropriate for individual client portfolios
- Directly support a team of relationship managers/ private bankers in pitching for new discretionary mandates
- Conduct in-depth fundamental research and analysis of investments across global asset-classes, emerging investment themes including:
- Thorough analysis of economic/ financial reports and other information with an eye towards identifying hidden investment risks.
- Analysis of the valuations of securities, sectors, and markets
- Assess and quantify risks facing individual company, sectors and country, markets in the portfolios
- Produce timely investment strategies and concise summary reports and presentations. Find creative ways to explain her/his investment thesis succinctly and presenting these to the RMs and Clients
- Monitoring of financial news using specialist media sources and reporting key developments to the head of portfolio management.
- Keep abreast of economic and market movements and news affecting client portfolios, including writing periodical investment/ market update commentaries/ reports
- Monitor individual securities, model portfolios/ strategies, client portfolios on a daily basis. Interpret developments that may impact share price performance on a longer-term basis
- Updating the head of portfolio management on a daily basis on anything that materially impacts area of coverage. Due to small team size, this may include collection and analysis of data on a variety of asset classes, economies, sectors, companies and their customers, suppliers, competitors, regulatory changes, etc.
- Keep abreast of sell-side research and views on stocks, sectors and markets. Contribute positively to the development of in-house investment views and identifying investment themes.
- Building and maintaining a database of in-depth financial models, portfolio models, performance reports.
- Responsible for generating investment ideas across asset classes and geographies.
- Presenting investment strategies to relationship managers and/ or clients in the context of discretionary portfolio management
- Contribute to developing and maintaining a robust investment research and portfolio management process.
- Create and maintain documentation of investment allocations, model portfolios, projects, process, products and data, building a resourceful database
- Expected to prepare and refine a variety of quantitative analyses
- Provide thematic views and strategies in the context of global multi-asset investment strategy
- Monitor news or developments relating to underlying portfolio investments on a daily basis
- Participating in weekly team meetings, presenting ideas/views/risks on investments covered
- Working closely with the head of portfolio management, the investment advisor will identify investment opportunities and manage the various process involved in clients advisory portfolio management.
- Preparation and presentation of ADCB investment portfolios, strategies and themes to potential and existing clients and RMs. Updating clients and RMs on a regular basis or as requested.

Occasional Duties:
- Tasked periodically with special projects and special situations for quick, time pressured and in-depth analysis on transactions supporting the clients investment portfolios.
- Expected to provide research input for all investments strategies & research.
- Provide and coordinate information and reporting as requested by the Head of Portfolio Management and the Chief Investment Officer.
- Back-up support to Head of Portfolio Management, conducting trading and implementation for the investment portfolios managed by ADCB

Requirements

- Bachelor/ Masters degree from a top rated institution in a related quantitative subject such as finance, economics or similar.
- Holds an internationally a recognized professional qualification (CFA preferred)
- At least 5 years experience as a portfolio manager in a recognised asset management company.

Special Skills / Attributes required for the Job:
- A very good knowledge of written and spoken English is required.
- An excellent command of MS Office is requried.
- Familiarity with financial software/systems such as Bloomberg/Reuters.
- Excellent person-to-person skills.
- Excellent communication skills are required.
- Excellent in communicating with RMs and Clients.
- Possess a deep understanding of core accounting and financial concepts, statistics, economics and empirical research methods
