Employment: Full Time

A fund and discretionary management firm in London and Dubai requires a Portfolio Manager to look after a book of private clients, with portfolio management responsibilities. Based in Dubai.

The firm is an absolute return asset manager, offering both in house fund management and portfolio management. They are a boutique asset manager with offices in the UK and Dubai. They expect high standards from their staff and offer the highest standard of service to their clients. You will be expected to have client contact and your role will have you managing private clients, reviewing and re-balancing portfolio and making appropriate recommendations to new and existing clients.

You should be a level 4 qualified Portfolio Manager or Paraplanner with a strong investment bias but preferably level 6 PCIAM. You will be required to work hard and will handle a large case load but will be rewarded for your efforts. This firm will be committed to helping you advance and will pay for study support and will offer the opportunity to advance.

The role holder will be expected to assist team members and the senior bankers with the acquisition and retention of significant clients.

The role holder will have accountability for ensuring that their direct team manage portfolios and deliver the service aligned with the proposition. This will be a high quality service to the Relationship Managers and their clients.

Core Accountabilities:

Technical - Investment capability: The role holder will maintain a comprehensive knowledge of current market events and drivers for all nine asset classes with a full understanding of the current strategic and tactical positioning of investment strategy. In addition to being able to articulate this persuasively, the successful candidate will be a key contributor within our decision making forums, actively participating, effectively challenging and liaising with the wider team and specialist areas. They will also drive the adoption and delivery of the investment process, ensuring client needs are met, compliance best practise standards are met and the business is profitable.

People and Stakeholder Management: People management will form a significant part of the role. You will have demonstrable success in managing, developing and motivating individuals, especially through change. The role holder will need strong communication skills and have a track record of building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders. An ability to tailor the message to the audience is critical and to have confidence in delivering this in varied formats. The role holder will make a positive impact to the performance, investment and collegiate culture of the team and the global discretionary business.

Commercial Effectiveness: The role holder will need to develop and maintain strong relationships with distribution and functional areas, pro-actively identifying and resolving service issues. You will have a key role in ensuring that we deliver a high quality service to the Relationship Managers and their clients.

Key clients (internal and external)
The role holder, as a Senior PM, will personally manage and grow a book of discretionary portfolios for Relationship Managers/clients.

Requirements

The successful candidate will have a proven ability in building trusted relationships with people at various levels of the organisation, key stakeholders and clients with diverse needs and characteristics.

They will be a strong and persuasive presenter and be effective in chairing meetings. It is crucial that the role holder has a thoroughly professional demeanour, is team - focussed, and has broad experience in managing private client multi asset class portfolios and a demonstrable ability to lead.
- Experience in managing multi asset class portfolios in a Wealth context
- Be able to demonstrate a full grasp of all investment asset classes and understand how they are employed in portfolio construction optimally, within agreed parameters, restrictions and tax frameworks.
- Experience in conducting effective presentations to a varied audience confidently and comfortably
- Proven track record in pitching successfully
- Targets are stretching so flexibility, strong team focus and leadership capability is required
- Previous experience in adhering to external and internal regulatory frameworks
- Familiarity with market information systems and technical systems with the likes of Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Bloomberg.
