The Role


The Role


A regional role for Middle East and North Africa looking after 18 markets, based in the headquarters in Bahrain and responsible for Strategic and Analytics based implementation of:
a) Revenue generating programs on the Credit Card Portfolio
b) Product Optimization Strategy
c) Strategies for increasing AR and Billings/ Outstanding on the Credit Cards Portfolio.

The core accountabilities of the Portfolio Specialist encompass the following critical functions:

Portfolio Management:
- Driving Portfolio metrics, forecast AR growth and achieve targeted AR growth
- Conceptualize, design and implement AR growth programs encompassing: Activation, spends, profitable balance build and Retention.
- Work closely with Risk, Finance & Business Planning on monitoring AR Growth
- Assist the Head of Portfolio Management in optimizing revenue and profitability per customer segment and product.
- Assist the Head of Portfolio Management in the strategy and implementation of portfolio offerings like Balance Transfers, X-sell programs, EMI Programs, Retail Insurance etc
- Work closely with the Customer Engagement & Loyalty team to implement Portfolio programs
- Managing Product Upgrades, Limit Increases and other revenue maximizing initiatives.
- Key Interface with Business Consultants on Portfolio Optimization.

Product Management:
- To support the achievement of Revolve portfolio profitability objectives as per the 5YP, providing high quality input to card acquisition and revenue optimization strategies.
- Product Line Strategy Implementation & Optimization
- Working with NPD on product launches, revitalizations, premiumisations and migrations
- Work closely with the Head of Products and NPD/NCA team to ensure implementation of the customer segment - product - channel fit
- Working with the NCA team and Country Managers to manage and drive implementation of alternate sourcing programs & Preferred Segment strategies

Required Qualifications:

Candidates will be expected to pass a technical interview of econometric/statistical proficiency as well as demonstrate appropriate business and programming aptitude.

Educational requirement:
Masters in economics/ statistics/ quantitative analysis/applied microeconomics with Minimum of 2 years of experience in Credit Cards industry especially in modeling and analysis

Knowledge of relevant statistical and analytical techniques is required. The candidate should possess experience in the following thematic areas:
- Statistical modeling to include limited dependent variable models and wide understanding of maximum likelihood, instrumental variables and least squares methods; additionally the candidate should be able to draw on a broad array of sophisticated statistical techniques to suit the particular problem at hand to include non-parametric estimation, method of moments, etc…
- Experience with applied econometric work including solving problems in a computationally efficient and statistically effective manner, coping with censoring/truncation, and identifying heteroskedasticity and other violations of CNR assumptions.
- Sampling theory, hypothesis testing and basic test design: proficiency with more advanced material is desired e.g. unbalanced panel designs, fractional factorial design, as these are encountered in a number of marketing settings

Data handling and transformation for analysis comprises one of the most critical functions in this role. Candidate is expected to expertly manipulate their own data. As such the candidate should possess:
- Experience handling large cross-section data sets and transforming raw data into data usable for analysis and MIS and from there, to actionable business insights
- Working knowledge of and practical coding experience with, statistical analysis programming languages such as SAS, Answer Tree, and Oracle. Candidate will be expected to write raw code independently and quickly build strong proficiency in SAS and SQL.
- Expertise in using Excel to include pivot tables powered by Access tables, basic statistical and charting functions, etc…

Business experience and skills include:
- Analytical management experience delivering multiple high quality, high visibility analyses under tight timelines. This includes strong project and meeting management skills
- Extraordinary attention to detail and process such that a reliable analytical ‘product' is consistently returned to the business and all business procedures including as needed, campaign execution protocols, are appropriately followed.
- Good communication and persuasion skills with an ability to translate technical analysis into business insights and recommendations, work with diverse teams and individuals, and influence others without direct authority.
- Strong focus on internal and external customers, will to win in the marketplace, and personal accountability to produce best in class work under own initiative.

The ideal candidate would also possess strong familiarity with some of the following:
- Advanced SAS and VBA skills
- Internet technologies
- Marketing and Acquisition
- Charge/credit card profitability dynamics and the global payments market competitive environment
- Key customer facing processes (e.g. acquisitions, new accounts, authorizations, TSC, etc.)
