Purpose of Role:
The purpose of this role is to assist SRO in Project Managing the SEC Contract. To provide advice and guidance to the SRO Project Managers to ensure all elements of the electrification works, undertaken by the consortium, are designed, manufactured, installed, tested and commissioned in accordance with the contract documents and stated specifications and will be delivered at the appropriate time to allow testing, commissioning and operation of the railway.
This role will provide advice to the SRO Project Manager, Head of Phase 2 and the Construction and Design Management Consultant on any action or corrective action necessary.

Core Responsibilities:
• Provide advice and guidance on the Project Management of the SEC contract.
• Oversee the activities of others progressing the design, manufacture, testing and commissioning of the traction power distribution network, overhead catenary, and medium and low voltage networks.
• Provide advice and guidance to SRO Project Manager on all facets to achieve successful completion of the traction power distribution network, overhead catenary, and medium and low voltage networks activities.
• Work closely with the Construction and Design Management Consultant, Dar Al Handasah – Getinsa to ensure that the programme, quality, safety and performance requirements are all met.
• Ensure that all electrical works are delivered in a timely manner, fit for purpose, meets requirements, and provides passengers with a safe, comfortable and enjoyable journey.

Requirements

Person Specification
A qualified and highly experienced electrical engineer with strong project management and inter-personal skills. The Electrical Adviser will play an active permanent role over three years in the SRO’s client oversight team. The role is based in Jeddah in the western region of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), but some travel will be required within KSA and overseas to scrutinize those engaged in the design, manufacture and installation at multiple locations.

Essential background and experience
• A chartered or professionally qualified electrical engineer with more than ten years post qualification experience in railway or metro electrical engineering.
• More than three years experience in the supervision of design, manufacture, installation, and testing and commissioning of high-speed railway train electrification sub-systems to interoperable UIC standards.
• The ability to critique and challenge objectively with confidence and guide staff from the Construction and Design Management Consultant, lead contractor, and the key component manufacturers and suppliers.
Desirable Skills, knowledge and experience
• Experience of the structure and approach international JV’s in more than one country.
• Experience in the various contract types, preferably including FIDIC Red Book.

Qualifications Required
• Bachelors Degree in Engineering or a related discipline
• Professional qualification such as membership of the IEE.
