The Role

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Principal Architect to provide expertise on multi-discipline projects within our Doha office.

Working in a multidisciplinary team, providing a comprehensive design service to our clients, this is a great opportunity for a design architect to gain additional experience within an internationally renowned consultant, affording the opportunity to work on large scale multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for appraising and compiling the client’s brief, Concept Design (competition winning standard), schematic design, detail design, tender documents, specifications and site follow up.
• Lead the project team and their own design team proactively and to coordinate with structural engineers, building services engineers, infrastructure and other sub consultants and specialists.
• Coordinate with and supervise their own team of Senior Architects, Architects and Architectural technician on a day-to-day basis to achieve excellent design quality and documentation, and match or better Atkins QA standards.
• To initiate and generate new clients and consequently new jobs as well as conduct themselves professionally at all times to assure satisfaction of these and existing clients.
• Report to Head of Department on a regular basis regarding progress, design, quality, resources, changes, site issues, planning issues etc.
• Responsible for the correctness and accuracy of their own work and all the work of their team
• Responsible for the checking all CAD drawings and documents done under their supervision.
• To plan their project production programme, deliverables and available fee at the beginning of each stage, continuously monitor and ultimately achieve their objectives.
• To initiate new project procedures, quality enhancements, technical memos, marketing strategies, etc to constantly improve the Atkins Qatar office, Atkins regionally and possibility globally, where other colleges/offices may benefit from these contributions
• To participate in the management of the department, initiate new policies, assist in recruitment of new staff, assist in developing the skills of the department. Deputize for HOD as necessary

• B. Arch, M.Arch or B.Sc in Architecture (min 5 to 6 years of university study) and with more than 12 to 15 years post graduate experience and at least 6 most resent years in high rise or large projects. Experience of leading and developing a medium to large team of Architects.
• Need to be an exceptional designer/detailer and to have the ability to complete with international name architectural firms.
• Min. 2 years Middle East experience (preferable)
• Working knowledge of NFPA 5000, British Standards, American Standards, Local Municipality , etc
• Reasonable knowledge of the following software: AutoCAD, 3D Studio, Photoshop, and MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Good Sketching and communicating ability at the highest level.
