Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Leads a team of Civil Engineers and provides technical advice and support to deliver project deliverable documentation and drawings, on time and on schedule.

The candidate has extensive experience in the area of Water and Wastewater design, including storm water drainage.

Determines methods and solutions for complex civil engineering problems and selects the most efficient and economical manner in meeting the objectives. Applies advanced engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline.

This level of Engineer is a fully qualified professional, proficient in the utilization of current engineering theories and practices. May serve as a technical consultant in area of specialty for management or the client.

Many assignments involve CAE (computer aided engineering)/CAD (computer aided design) applications like Sewer CAD, Storm CAD, Water CAD, Hammer, Inroads, Pipe2000 etc. Willingness to travel or relocate to supplier, client, or construction site locations is expected.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all the Civil Engineering design activities and deliverables for a specific project and ensure timely completion.
- Support quality assurance and HSE compliance audits for civil projects and reviews in accordance with Project requirements.
- To ensure all specialist engineering support and advice meets the required safety and environmental standard.
- Actively communicate with other disciplines to optimise areas of interface, during the design development, review and check processes.
- To ensure that all software analysis and results are validated and calibrated in accordance with prevailing standard engineering procedures.
- Prepare requisitions and technical evaluation of bids for discipline material and equipment procurement. Ensure equipment vendors provide timely and quality input into design packages.
- Demonstrate repeatability and constant improvement in projects across a broad of geographic, technical and cultural difference.
- Support quality assurance and HSE compliance audits for civil projects and reviews in accordance with Project requirements.
- To ensure that work is executed within allocated manhours and on agreed schedule with highest quality.
- To ensure all specialist engineering support and advice meets the required safety and environmental standards.
- To keep abreast of technical development and progress in the oil/gas industry.
- Develops operation and maintenance plans; develops standard operating procedures; prepares O & M manuals and may conduct on-site training of personnel.
- Conducts surveys, studies, and site investigations.
- Performs reliability, availability, and maintenance (RAM) and safety analyses.
- Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technologies.
- Helps determine budget estimates and staffing requirements for the defined scope and schedule. May assist with other administrative and technical duties.
- Recommends and prepares technical papers.

Requirements

Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering (or related field) and 15 + years of related work experience in the areas of Water and Waste Water including Storm water drainage and sewerage rehabilitation.

Professional Engineer registration may be required.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:
Performs in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required. Must also possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
