CH2M HILL Principal Engineer/Design Manager - Dubai, UAE

Job PurposeCH2M Hill's Water business is expanding its delivery capabilities in the UAE office to support the delivery of major water related projects throughout the Middle East region.

Our continued growth and development has led to an increased need for an experienced civil engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in Dubai.
The team deals with a wide range of water sector clients and supports the delivery of major infrastructure projects.

A Design Manager/Project Engineer (DM/PE) is required to lead the team in Dubai and to lead delivery of projects.

Our projects bring innovative solutions to our client's water/wastewater challenges. You should be a self-motivated professional with 15 - 20 years of successful project engineering or engineering manager experience, have a degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline and be prepared to grow professionally as well as personally with each project.

Job Responsibilities:
Design Manager/Project Engineers responsibilities.
Deliver design projects involving municipal and industrial water/wastewater while managing multi-discipline teams to bring innovative solutions to industrial water/wastewater challenges.
Ensure the best technical and business solutions for our client and integration of industrial subject matter and service expertise.
Assemble and lead the project team.
Allocate resources where appropriate to achieve the safety, time, cost, scope and quality objectives of projects.
Manage and drive multi-discipline project delivery; ensure compliance with overall project objectives.
Serve as primary interface between our project team and project manager, conveying technical, schedule, and project performance information in a timely and professional manner.
Develop and manage man-hour estimates and project schedules to complete work.
Plan and coordinate work sequence with disciplines for productive and timely completion of all discipline work.
Facilitate project performance and budget monitoring & reporting (internally).
Manage change and document change management.
Support project quality management plan implementation and documentation.
Support services which include idea generation, permitting and compliance, selection, and implementation of water/wastewater treatment technology specific to our client's needs.
Facilitate project design reviews, internal reviews and meetings, while assisting the project manager with schedule updates, estimates to complete, and monthly reports.
Drive ownership of health & safety in all aspects of project execution, office and personal environments.
Lead in the identification of variances from plan, develop solutions, and initiate corrective action.
Manage competing demands.
Assist in developing Total Installed Cost estimates.

Other responsibilities:
Overall leadership of team of water and civil engineers.
Responsibility for overall productivity, quality and cost effectiveness of delivery team.
Overall responsibility for development of team.
Resource allocation.
Provides broad technical or functional guidance and leadership to others.
Liaison with project managers from other parts of the region and other markets to ensure appropriate staffing for all water inputs to projects.

Requirements

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or closely related science discipline.

15 - 20 year's competency in working with municipal and industrial clients in engineering or project engineer roles on water / wastewater projects.

15 - 20 year's experience working with and understanding the delivery process of all disciplines in the sequence and development of project deliverables.

15 - 20 year's experience in written and verbal communication of project plans and presentations.

5 - 10 year's experience in leading multidisciplinary teams.

Experience in the design of gravity and pressurized pipelines and systems.

Experience in the design of water and wastewater pumping and treatment facilities.

Adept at interpersonal relationship building and conflict resolution.

Must be willing to travel to meet project needs.

Preferred Qualifications:
In addition to the basic qualifications we also desire the following:

Master's degree in Environmental or Civil Engineering or closely related science discipline.

Minimum 20 year's experience with water or wastewater treatment.

Experience of working with with industrial clients.

Experience in execution of conceptual through detailed design and construction support for municipal and industrial projects (EPC project experience a plus).

Ability to accurately evaluate levels of completeness of various discipline deliverables and whether or not they are meeting scope of work requirements.

Field and Construction Experience.

Certified PMP.

Middle East experience.
