Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

Responsibilities:
- Geotechnical leadership for major rail, infrastructure and buildings projects.
- Leading a team of experienced ground engineering professionals in the planning, design, review and development of rail/metro, infrastructure and building projects.
- Leading meetings and presenting at all levels.
- Managing key external stakeholder interfaces including departments within client organisations and government departments.
- Managing the technical interface with specialist geotechnical contractors with respect to site investigations and other works.
- Liaising with consultants and contractors to support delivery of planned multiple programmes of work across new-build rail, infrastructure and buildings related projects.
- Input into major interface resolution identification, development and assessment of alternative options and engineering solutions.
- Strategic project planning.
- Team management, resourcing and training.

Requirements

- A strong academic background with a relevant degree (ideally Masters or equivalent)
- A qualified engineering professional with Chartered status in an appropriate institution.
- 10+ years of experience in new-build metro, infrastructure and buildings projects, preferably Design & Build projects.
- Minimum 5 years experience working in the Middle East.
- Minimum of 5 years on construction projects and underground structures especially temporary works and tunnels/underground structures.
- Proven experience of acting as a principal Geotechnical Engineer in a fast-moving engineering consultancy and project environment.
- Experience in running a successful Geotechnical Engineering team, mentoring and training junior staff.
- Strong focus on rail and civil infrastructure.
- Effective communication skills in report writing, presentations and meetings.
- Experience in multi-disciplinary design coordination in delivering major D&B projects.
- Good commercial track record in negotiating and running successful jobs.
- A flair for innovation.

Also desirable:
- Experience of soil structure interaction work and numerical analysis.
- Previous international working experience.
- Exposure to a range of different rail, infrastructure and buildings projects.
- Written and spoken Arabic.
