Job description / Role
- Managing a project or a small portfolio of projects of various sizes
- Providing the design team with leadership and guidance focused on project delivery
- Having an appreciation of the roles of fellow professionals on multidisciplinary projects (architect, quantity surveyor, services etc) and interfacing and coordinating with them appropriately
- Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
- Interpreting commercial and/or contractual aspects of correspondence with or between fellow professionals
- Managing the project budgets, staffing forecast for both programming and expenditure
- Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery
- Provide support in the development of the business and staff recruitment within the structural department
- Be able to present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical individuals
Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate technical (design) skills
- Enthusiastic and dynamic approach to work.
- Chartered engineer and member or fellow of IStructE or similar professional body
- Outward facing personality with good interpersonal skills
- Self motivation with good organisational capability
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Client care and development skills
- Ability to evaluate and rationalise risk
- Flexibility, be willing to question and respond in a positive approach
- IT literacy
- Able to manage a team of engineers, and provide support on structural analysis software and modelling packages to the structural team
