The Role


The Role


Parsons International is seeking a qualified Transportation Planner with experience in traffic analysis and transportation planning, including major thoroughfare planning, corridor planning, site traffic analysis, parking analysis, travel demand estimation, alternative analysis, travel surveys, and transit planning. As Principal Transportation Planner, he will manage a team of transportation and traffic engineers for a prestigious mega scale development project in Abu Dhabi.

Responsibilities:

Supports the development and maintenance of the transportation master plan to include preparation and modeling for transportation, traffic and parking studies; presentation of the plans and studies to the client as well as the local and regional governing authorities; and coordination and follow-up to gain acceptance and approval.

Analyzes the existing conditions, planned road network, planned public transport network, and the overall island master plan. Prepares traffic forecasts for the overall island Traffic Impact Study as well as each of the seven districts on the island. Supervises the preparation and maintenance of the multi-modal transport model studies. Undertakes full model runs including the trip generation, distribution, mode choice and assignment processes for the peak periods. Prepares travel demand forecasts, detailed network modeling, road capacity analysis, junction performance analysis, and calculates parking requirements. Develops the public transport demand to include regional travel, medium local travel by tram, and short local travel by bus. Calculates pedestrian network requirements and bicycle network requirements.

Presents results of the various studies, modeling and analysis to the client and in turn to regional transportation approval agencies. Coordinates responses to queries and follows-up to obtain approval from the development plans.

Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Experience and Qualification:
• Degree in Civil Engineering from accredited University.
• Registration as Professional/Chartered Engineer.
• Minimum 10 years related experience including recent transportation planning experience.
• Proven ability to perform in a management capacity.
• Excellent English written and oral communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Thorough knowledge of current technology to be able to apply appropriate engineering software.
