The RoleThe RolePlans, directs, and coordinates the printing activities and resources. Make sure that production meets output and quality goals while remaining within budget. Main Duties: 1. Utilizes personnel (overtime, shift, schedules, etc.) and capital resources (machines, towers, folders, runs, etc.) to be used to best meet production goals. 2. Plans for products pricing and promotional strategies, and keeping within budget. 3. Schedules orders to ensure smooth flow of production process. 4. Investigates applications of new processes and technologies to take advantage of developments for the more economical and efficient use of production resources and budgets. 5. Plans for the appropriate number of personnel to meet the requirements of the Press. 6. Prepares and completes all reports in a timely manner. 7. Maintains financial and quality controls. 8. Calculates labor and equipment requirements and production specifications, using standard formulas. 9. Maintains operations data such as time, production, and cost records, and prepare management reports of production results. 10. Plans and monitors the reorder point of stocks (Paper, ink, plates, chemicals, etc.). 11. Plans and establishes work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals. 12. Controls paper and ink waste and responsible for quality of printing. 13. With guidance from management and finance department, identify and approve new suppliers. Establish and maintain vendor/supplier relationships. 14. Come up with ways to make the production processes more efficient. 15. Develops and maintains an efficient production schedule resulting in timely printing. 16. Makes sure that the final products received by distribution department on time. 17. Manages flow of manuscripts, page proofs, and final revisions; checks preliminary and final files/pages. 18. Ensures timely submission of final files for both print and electronic production. 19. Makes design and production decisions that meet the Press standards/goals and timelines. 20. Communicates with authors, designers, and printers to ensure the highest production standards for the press. 21. Schedules maintenance on all units and related equipment to ensure readiness for all press runs. 22. Observes work, and monitors gauges, dials, and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to production or processing standards. 23. Review current production processes and workflow to control costs and maintain efficient workflow. 24. Ensures observance of safe working practices. 25. Trains and directs others. 26. Serves as resource to others in resolving complex problems. 27. Liaise with management and/or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances. 28. Demonstrates equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training. 29. Inspects materials, products, or equipment to detect defects or malfunctions. 30Interprets specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers. |
RequirementsRequirementsB.Sc. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 10 years experience in the same field, or MBA with 5 years of experience in the same field. 1. Adjusts actions in relation to others' actions. 2. Understands written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents. 3. Talks to others to convey information effectively. 4. Uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. 5. Manages his own time and the time of others. 6. Considers the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one. Understands pricing margins and allowances. 7. Motivates, develops, and directs people as they work, identifies the best people for the job. 8. Controls operations of equipment or systems. 9. Must be knowledgeable of web and commercial printing, paper manufacturing, estimating and invoicing. |
