Process Development Engineer (Olefins)

Job description / Role

The Techncial Group (TG) unit has been established as the Engineering and Technical organisation for Borouge, which is mainly based in Ruwais.TG as the Engineering and TechnicalServices organisation and has business process ownership of Asset Integrity; Process Safety Management; Inspection; Project Engineering, Delivery (value up to $50 million) and Execution; Technical Authority Governance and Support; and Asset Development. Additionally, TG is the custodian of the Company Technical Standards and Procedures.

You will be part of the Technical Group team and will be responsible for:

* Finalizing studies requiring alterations of a technical nature in order to meet variations in e.g. increase production rate, introduce new products, introduce new feed-stock.
* Participating/leading in the identification of possible solutions to long-term process problem. Includes analyzing operating reports and discussing problem items with the departments concerned.
* Providing comments on the drawings and P&I (Piping & Instrumentation) diagrams. Checks the process documentation issued by licensors for consistency.
* Following-up on detailed engineering of new projects, checks design calculations, engineering drawings and specifications and makes comments as appropriate.
* Preparing, Reviewing & Approving modification drawings, issues comments on such modifications and suggests improvement where necessary in coordination with concerned Technical Services, Maintenance and Operations personnel, ensuring that operations safety requirements are included.
* Following-up on the implementation of approved modification work
* Participating in HAZOP and HAZAN studies pertaining to proposed modifications, including identifying potential operational and safety related problems and coordinating appropriate solutions.
* Applying computer simulation models and other advanced techniques to model the process plants.
* Assisting process control engineer in developing control strategies, systems analysis and modifications.
* Participating in the development of training programs for national employees under ongoing on-the-job training.
* Participating in development of test run procedures and analysis of the data

Requirements

As a successful candidate you will have:

* Bachelor Degree in Chemical or Process Engineering or related course (4 years course) or higher.
* At least 8 years work experience in an Olefins / Ethylene / Gas Cracker plant, including 6 years in process operations & process design position.
* Good knowledge of production and process engineering in an Olefins / Ethylene / Gas Cracker plant.
* Ability to speak, write and communicate effectively in English.
* Excellent analytical & leadership skills.
* Excellent team player.
* Proficient in the use of computer, MS Office, CMMS, etc.
