Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

The Main Purpose of the role:
To handle all purchasing for all Material items such as office equipment and machinery in addition to the raw material for the Kitchen operations.
To assist in the smooth running of the company
The main areas of responsibility:
Check and review quotations and contracts being submitted
Represent Del Monte in front of clients to negotiate payment terms and contracts to ensure highest level of service and the best price
Ensure records are maintained of goods ordered and received to monitor budget of each department
Ensure correct signatories have approved purchase order requests
Follow corporate procedures and policies to adhere to conditions set ie: different monetary values require different procedures
Dimensions of the Job (targets):
Ensure items ordered arrive in specified timescale to ensure smooth running of each department
Department interaction:
Interaction with all departments for purchasing needs
Finance for payment terms
Marketing for promotional items
Production for production materials
Flexibility in having to carry out a range of different tasks:
Full flexibility to organize own day and use different suppliers but must adhere to the timescales set by ordering department

Work allocation, review and approval:
Allocated from each department through purchase requests
Final decisions made by General Manager
Decision making authority:
Decision making authority on which supplier to use. All major decisions to be made by General Manager
Contacts made with others outside of Del Monte:
Suppliers
Tools and Equipment used:
SAP system to process all LPOs
Unusual features of the job:
None
Major Problems encountered when carrying out role:
Items out of stock
Delays from suppliers
50% of purchase is done from overseas which can add a delay

Requirements

University Qualifications: BSc, Masters
Nature and length of previous experience: 4 Years Experience in a Management position
Specialist knowledge: Procurement, Preferably both Local and Global.
Strong Negotiation Skills
