Job description / Role

Employment: Full Time

- To develop and maintain positive collaborative relations with customers and suppliers to achieve high levels of customer satisfaction by responding to queries in a timely manner and proactively seek to resolve issues.
- To support the sourcing team in defining strategies by providing data and facts based on rigorous demand and supply analysis.
- Contribute to the development of fact-based sourcing strategies for larger categories, or define sourcing strategies for lower value categories, that minimize risk and maximize commercial advantage, working collaboratively with the business and in line with the governance process.
- To undertake data collection activities, working collaboratively with internal customers, to develop robust business wide demand forecasts across product/asset lifecycles. Identify inconsistencies in current processes and specifications and recommend sourcing opportunities.
- To undertake supply market analysis (understand trends, cost drivers etc.) and use this information to provide fact based recommendations, as well as communicating and disseminating the information as appropriate.
- To apply appropriate tools and techniques to segment suppliers, understand supplier financial performance and analyse supplier and market capacity and constraints.
- To support delivery of benefits from sourcing, tendering and negotiation in order to deliver innovative supply arrangements for the company.
- To undertake collection of data and metrics which provide an accurate view of business and supplier performance. Identify and recommend appropriate control action to maximize performance using leading practice tools and techniques.
- To comply with company procurement and commercial policies and procedures.
- To support decisions based on value for money on a whole life cost basis, encompass sustainable solutions, remove unnecessary waste without loss of function, eliminate process redundancies, challenge specifications, consolidate volumes and standardize processes.
- To assist with the capture financial and non-financial benefits. Communicate the scope and benefits and respond to any price / service level challenges.
- Support the post contract commercial management of contracts when required to do so by the business, that delivers the right quality, on time and within budget; managing supplier performance to achieve a successful outcome for the customer.

Requirements

- Bachelors Degree in or a related field
- Professional Engineer registration preferred
- Minimum 15 years experience, GCC experience is preferred.
- Experience in the Rail industry or similar
- Educated to degree level or equivalent.
- Experience of introducing innovation to complex and inert/change adverse environments.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply at Associate Level or above
- A customer focussed approach.
- Highly numerate with strong data collection, analytical and financial skills
- Good written and presentation skills
- Good communication and influencing skills
- Ability to embrace and apply leading practice tools and techniques
- Proven customer service orientation and collaborative approach
