Employment: Full Time

JOB OBJECTIVE:

-To undertake any or all stages of the production of inserts, sequences or individual programmes, taking responsibility as set out by the Senior Producer or Executive Producer.
-To generate and develop ideas for inserts or individual programmes that meet the programme brief set out by the Commissioner.

DESCRIPTION:

-Performs a variety of tasks as part of the production of an insert, sequence or individual programme including research, identifying contributors, setting up and directing filming, taking editorial responsibility for studio recordings or outside broadcasts, supervising editing, identifying and arranging graphics, writing scripts, ensuring the finished item or programme is editorially and technically accurate.

-Understands a number of production techniques, styles and formats that work for children.

-Develops ideas and content gathered during production for the benefit of Online and Multi-Media.

-Work with the Production coordinator to understand the budget available and the resources assigned to the insert, sequence or programme.

-Work with the Production coordinator to identify the production requirements and assists in make all the necessary bookings and logistical arrangements to carry out the required production activities that enable the programme to be made.

-Under the supervision of the Senior Producer and/or Executive Producer delivers a finished insert, sequence or programme on time and on budget.

-Keeps the Senior Producer and/or Executive Producer informed of relevant editorial and financial issues associated with the production of the insert, sequence or programme.

-Contributes to the development of programme ideas and proposals for the Development Team.

-Interprets ideas in a way which demonstrates an understanding of the artistic potential of television.

-Demonstrates sound editorial judgment, particularly about filming with and for children.

-Understands and adheres to the editorial guidelines of JCC.

-Demonstrates the ability to work effectively as part of a production team, even when under the pressure of a live production or where tight deadlines have to be met.

-May on occasions be required to act for and on behalf of the Senior Producer in their absence, as instructed by the Senior Producer or Executive Producer.

Requirements

Education:

Media / Fine Art or any related Role

Experience:

At least 3 years as a Television Assistant Producer or similar role in:

-Working as part of a television production team taking responsibility for one or more elements of a programme.

-Researching and setting up inserts for a programme and overseeing the production of the filming and editing of the insert.

-Working with cameramen, directors and picture editors.

-Directing in studio or on location would be desirable.

Skills & Abilities:

-Strong editorial judgment and a practical knowledge of television production.
-Demonstrable creative skills.
-Ability to understand and interpret different styles and approaches to programme making.
-Ability to work in a collaborative way as part of a production team.
-Ability to work unsupervised and to demonstrate good judgment whilst knowing when to refer to someone more senior.
-Good communication skills.
-Understanding of the opportunities of the web and multi-media for reaching the JCC audience.
-Financial awareness.
-Ability to manage contributors to programmes, particularly children.
-Excellent communication skills in Arabic and English.
