Our client is one of the most recognizable names in the Financial Services industry and is in an enviable position to be able to recruit high-calibre professionals across the business
The client has created a best market practice Middle Office team who perform a variety of functions on a daily and periodic basis which include; Product Control, Risk Control and Reporting
Reporting to the Head of Product Control, the position will serve to enhance the valuation and control function within Global Wholesale Banking, Global Markets, and Group Treasury.
This Product Control team is responsible for accounting and financial reporting of the Global Markets business and individual trading desks (FX & Rates, Credit, Commodities, E-Commerce) both locally and globally, acting as a primary control function, and monitoring trading activity to ensure it is in a specified remit. Tasks include Profit and Loss (P&L) reporting and explanation, dealing with ad hoc management reporting queries, reconciliation of P&L and Balance Sheet between the General Ledger (Intellect) and Murex, and hedge monitoring and effectiveness testing
Reporting:
Production of daily and periodic reporting and management information for Global Markets
Provision of daily P&L attribution and commentaries
Ensure that the P&L is approved by the respective desk on a daily basis and consolidated under head office product control
Stop Loss limit monitoring:
Monitor the daily stop loss limit for Global Markets
Follow escalation procedures in the event of a breach
General Ledger reconciliation:
Perform the daily P&L reconciliation process and post adjustments to the General Ledger if required
Perform Balance Sheet and Off Balance Sheet reconciliation process and post adjustments to the General Ledger if required
Requirements
University degree in Finance/Business. Qualified accountant, CA, CPA required, or MBA, CFA, or other post graduate qualification would be considered
At least two to five years work experience in a Banking or Financial Institution environment. Candidates with Financial Services audit experience will be considered
Understanding of financial products including derivatives, structured products, FX and money market, and UK accounting and tax regulations
Well developed Excel skills
Personal skills – team player able to operate at several levels & with the flexibility to deal with a rapidly changing environment
Ability to communicate with a variety of divisions within the bank, and be able to work to strict deadlines
