The RoleThe RoleThe Messaging Specialist will be specifically required to: •Devise, implement and own business plans to meet the company Messaging revenue targets •Represent the company in all international Messaging bodies & forums, manage and enhance the relationship with its Messaging partners. •Drive the market planning and strategic direction for new messaging propositions. Obtain stakeholder and management approval to the intended messaging strategy (partnership priorities, technical initiatives etc) •Produce the marketing specifications for the introduction of new Messaging Services / solutions (including prescribing all provisioning, activation, handset configuration, fraud management, rating, charging, billing and service management issues) •Work with the Engineering and IT Departments to identify and ensure that all technical deliverables (e.g. SMSC, MMSC, Voicemail and other service enabling technologies required for the launch of new messaging services are implemented in a timely fashion. •Own and lead all voice / data messaging pricing innovations and billing initiatives (and communicate billing requirements to the Engineering and IT departments) •Work with Qtel Finance to verify and ensure that finance processes associated with messaging services are implemented and maintained (budgeting, financial- and business planning, reconciliation and settlement procedures, training of personnel and etc.) •Work with Qtel's Communications and PR departments to define a promotion plan and communications strategy for the launch of Qtel's new messaging services (Marketing creative, vetting and production of marketing collateral, desired channel mix etc) •Initiate, manage and support the production and distribution of training documentation / information packs to sales, retail and customer service channels and carry out training workshops to ensure that sales and support staff are adequately prepared for the commercial launch of new wireless roaming services •Represent project progress and otherwise escalate messaging issues to senior management. •Track and ensure that Quality of Service is maintained after messaging services are launched. Produce Messaging demand forecasts by service type to ensure that sufficient network capacity is provided at all times. •Propose optimisation and modification of existing Messaging services (Voicemail, Missed Call Alert, SMS, Premium SMS and MMS) •Keep updated on technological developments within the messaging area. |
RequirementsRequirementsMinimum Experience & Essential Knowledge The role-holder needs to have a strong understanding of wireless technologies and mobile industry trends. A minimum of 5 years experience working within a Wireless Operator's Marketing or Product Development department is required. Extensive messaging experience, including SMS, voicemail, MMS and Premium messaging services. Experience in developing and launching a wide number of Messaging services Minimum Entry Qualifications Minimum 5 years in the Wireless Telecommunications Field. Minimum 2 years working in the area of Wireless Messaging Possession of a university degree Perfect written and spoken English. Arabic an advantage. SKILLS Technical & non technical The role calls for an individual with the ability to span strategic, technical and commercial areas. They need to have a good overall knowledge of mobile networks and products and services and specific knowledge of wireless messaging services. The role holder needs to have specific knowledge of: SMS, MMS, IM, Voicemail, Missed Call Alert and Call Forwarding across both Postpaid and Prepaid platforms. In addition they need to have knowledge of OTA handset configuration platforms. In addition they need to have •Strong analytical skills •Project Planning and Implementation (Project Mgmt) •Strong team leadership and management skills Other Skills Specific skills required include the ability to: •Perform a profitability analysis / model a business case •Write a business case (i.e. an assessment involving a discussion of options & a specific recommendation) •Write Project Plans •Negotiate commercial roaming agreements •Multi-task across multiple tasks (prioritisation setting and workload allocation) •Resolve conflict |
